Sadly there are a number of people today that believe the earth is flat - this is a myth based on a lie with no basis in science.

The flat earth "theory" has more to do with religion and superstition than anything connected with scientific truth. It is devoid of proof.
[But science is not about "proof" either -- Don't you know anything about science?]

If you have to ask, "Is the Earth Flat?" the answer is No and this live stream from the International Space Station will show you Earth seen from 240 miles above the planet.

Looks like happenby has chosen not to heed advice to get help. Oh, well.
Here a contributor ridicules flat-earthers for misrepresenting "truth" and for "faith" and "belief" -- all with religious overtones.
The 6,000 year age of a "young earth" and claims of proving your beliefs wrong all criticize Catholic religion.
IOW it is a criticism of religious sensibilities, which ridicules the Church, indirectly.

Is the Earth flat or spherical? Logically, what makes more sense:  An Earth that is a flat, stationary plane, or an Earth that is a spinning, spherical ball?
You state in your question details: “A Spherical Earth would require gravity, which we don’t see or cannot prove.”

I challenge the truth of that statement and here is an easy way to prove how much faith you actually have in that belief. Go to the roof of a 10 story or higher building and jump to the concrete below. If there is no gravity you will be fine.

You might come back with, “There is no gravity; the Flat Earth is accelerating upward at 9.81 meters/sec^2.” 
Since we know the Earth has been around for between 6,000 years (not really) and 4.5 billion years, we would be traveling at as close to the speed of light as imaginable, yet celestial bodies are not flying by us at an insane rate due to this ever increasing speed.

You claim Occam’s Razor, but if the Earth is accelerating upward at 9.81 meters/sec^2, what is the force that is accelerating us? Is it no more visible and “provable” than gravity? and where is the evidence…we can easily watch the other planets and Jupiter’s moons thru strong binoculars and they all follow the laws of gravity so you are making Earth a special case…on what basis do you add this bizarre complexity?

It is obvious to anyone looking objectively at the evidence that the Earth is spheroid and we are being attracted to it by gravity, just as all the other planets, moons, asteroids, etc., are behaving.

If you measure the Sun as being directly overhead, this only happens at the right time of year in the tropics. The farther north or south you go, the more the seasonal variation. This has been measured, recorded and provable for 1000’s of years and can be done today.

If your flat horizon meme was correct, you would be able to see the Rocky Mountains and Himilayas from Toronto, Canada with a telescope, or the CN Tower from New York. Guess what? You can’t.

You are entitled to your beliefs no matter how easily proven wrong they are, but your brain health and quality of life would probably improve if you decided to be open minded and look at the evidence around you objectively. My best wishes to you.

The earth is an oblate spheroid.
The earth orbits the sun.
The moon orbits the earth.
The earth rotates about a “virtual” axis (in that it’s not an actual, physical “thing”) that is tilted 23.5° off-parallel from its orbital axis w/r/t the sun.


The USA landed men on the moon, multiple times, and brought them all safely back to earth.

“Flat Earthers” are not very intelligent, and are wrong. If you take the time to ask them, ALL of them believe the way they do because of deeply-held religious (typically Christian) beliefs. (Or, if not “ALL,” then I would place bets that it’s greater than 98%)

I’m not saying all Christians are stupid. I’m not saying that all Christians are “Flat Earthers.” All “Flat Earthers” are not very intelligent, though. And MOST of them are Christians.
