    I think it's The Enlightenment, not Modernism.  I think Modernism doesn't have a problem with Flat Earth/Globe Earth/Donut Earth/Whatever Floats Your Boat Earth, but The Enlightenment thinks Science is "the primary source of authority and legitimacy."
