  • O.k., a magical force holds a battleship to the water off the coast of Argentina, while a pigeon drops milky white "bombs" on its steely hull.  How is it that the pigeon can fly, but the boat cannot?

  • Don't Believe in Gravity - Flat Earth Man

He gives a short and simple explanation for why things fall to the ground. He says that if an object is heavier than the air that surrounds it, then it falls to the ground. But if it's lighter than air, then it will rise. He says that this is called buoyancy, which makes more sense than gravity.
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

    ~St. Robert Bellarmine
    De Romano Pontifice, Lib.II, c.29

Yeah, even scientists can't explain what gravity is.  They put equations to it to describe its behavior but can't explain what it is or even prove that it exists.

  • Yeah, even scientists can't explain what gravity is.  They put equations to it to describe its behavior but can't explain what it is or even prove that it exists.
    .
The existence of gravity is demonstrated by any of many apparatus anyone can build.
    .
But just because the effects of gravity can be consistently observed with empirical processes, doesn't mean it's always the same.
    .
There could be exceptions, especially when the very cause or mechanism for gravity by which it operates is not understood.
    .
We can see it has predictable effects but we don't know WHY these effects exist.
    .
We can see that the force of gravity is directly proportional to the mass of the proximate objects and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them, but that doesn't mean we know why these proportions turn up the same time after time.
    .
Neither do we really understand what magnetism is, but we use it all the time, in electric motors, generators, MRI machines, compasses, electric gauges, electric watches, magnetos, solenoids, and particle accelerators, to name a few.
    .
We don't know how or why magnetism works but we use its predictable effects nonetheless.
    .
Here's a really big one: We do not understand what consciousness is or how it works, but we use it anyway.

Yeah, and he's funny!  Gravity seems to be so obviously absurd, that it deserves to be made fun of.  I get that we're all brainwashed when we're little kids into believing, but fine, we don't have to debate the existence of The Easter Bunny  :laugh1:  We just know it's fantasy and don't take anyone seriously/feel sorry for anyone who believes in it.  I think Gravity is like that.  It's sort of like you just have to think for yourself.

  • The only reason you need Gravity, is for a fantasy world that spins at 1000 mph and where people walk around like they're Spiderman.

    .
The principle of gravity is merely a theory to help make sense of our world so we can build machines and improve technology.
    .
Without the principle of gravity we would have no shipping industry, submarines, bullet trains, jet aircraft or NASCAR races.
    .
Do you know that NASCAR puts on the most elaborate and expensive sporting events? More expensive than football or the Olympics?
    .
There has never been, nor will there ever be, any champion race car driver or stunt man that doesn't believe in gravity.
    .
Without the principle and concept of gravity and its effects in mind, no one is capable of competing in any race.
    .
No aviator who can actually fly the plane, or submarine captain or mountain bike Rampage racer has any doubts about gravity.
    .
    So how about that?

You flat-earthers who keep trying to say there are Catholics who think the earth is "flat" are only doing damage to the Faith.
    .
You're making traditional religion into something stupid and ridiculous.
    .
So if that's your objective, then congratulations.

Try asking this guy if he thinks gravity is a myth:
    .
    .
    Or this guy:
    .
    Ask Kurt Sorge, from Canada:

Kurt Sorge is actually a very nice guy. Easy to talk to, and very honest.
    .
He's very respectful of his competition and he has a great time at all the meets.
    .
I'm sure he would be patient explaining gravity and its effects to you.
