  • Here's a screenshot of Google's logo for Columbus Day.
    .
    .
It shows the Firmament, the flat earth, and split between day and night, and the pole star over the center.
    .
    .
    .
    They KNOW.

What saddens me about him the most is that he isn't astute to even the most elementary basics. Today's "Google Doodle" has nothing to do with Columbus day...

It's obvious by just looking at the picture...
We have an apparent viking ship, a Norsman on skies, a passport with the name Nanson etc.... and he's going to teach us about the "errors" of "globe-earth?"  Yea right!

    .
Curiously, the Viking ship, the Nordic skiing, and the Nansen Passeport recall that Norsemen voyages to North America predated Columbus and his voyages. So what do they have to do with Columbus Day?
    .
If Google were more HONEST they'd show a calendar with Columbus Day crossed off because now it's going to be Indigenous People's Day.
    .
Not to mention the fact that there is ALREADY a Native American Day, the 4th Friday in September. (Why make it a Friday - so Catholic American Indians can't celebrate with BBQ meats?)
    .
How many holidays do they need? Native American Day, Indigenous People's Day, Officially Stateless Persons' Day, International Expatriates' Day...?

They pretty much "crossed off" the day with this yesterday...

    Here's the scoop from Google...

"Today’s Doodle offers a glimpse into the mind of one of the world’s most inspirational and pioneering journalists, Clare Hollingworth — a woman so keen for adventure, she kept her passport within an arm’s length at all times, just in case.
Just one week after joining The Telegraph, Clare showed the world why she was called “the doyenne of war correspondents.” Venturing alone across the Germany-Poland border, she was the first to scoop the start of World War II after a windy day blew apart hessian screens, revealing a mass of German troops preparing to invade.
Daring in her approach, Hollingworth often said she was happiest roaming the world, traveling light, and ready for danger. This spirit led her reporting across the world, from working with Jєωιѕн refugees in Poland, to covering the Greek and Algerian cινιℓ ωαrs, to being the first person to interview Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, the shah of Iran.
Though much of her early work was not officially attributed to her, Hollingworth’s experience and bold career path led her to win Woman Journalist of the Year, James Cameron Award for Journalism, and a lifetime achievement award from What The Papers Say.
In commemoration of the gust of wind that led to her first scoop in 1939, we’re blowing out the candles for what would be Clare’s 106th birthday."

  • BTW Neil, thank you for fixing my grammatical errors... It's humbling and it gives my wife something to heckle me about... she's a former grammer teacher, and she loves it when you apply corrections...  :furtive:

You're welcome. Your marvelous wife, likewise! You're a lucky man. Especially if she likes chili peppers. HAHAHA

Nothing to do with Christopher Columbus whatsoever!
    .
Just hover your mouse over the image on the Google page and see:  it says, "Fridtjof Nansen - 156th Birthday."
