    .
This guy has less sense than a pocket of loose change.
    .
His home-made rocket is powered with steam?
    .

    Quote
A self-styled mad scientist is preparing to launch himself into orbit in a homemade rocket in a bid to prove the Earth is flat. ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes, a 61-year-old limo driver, who has spent years building his own steam powered rocket, says this Saturday he will make it jump over Amboy, California – a Route 66 ghost town.
    .
Notice the glaring mistake already. It says, "...to launch himself into orbit..." -- but he doesn't say he's doing that. Getting into orbit would be beyond the capability of any "steam rocket" (and a rocket isn't powered by steam in the first place).
    .
He could save himself a lot of trouble by climbing to the top of Mt. Whitney (which is nearby) and take a look at the horizon. He's probably not going to get any higher than that in his silly steam rocket, anyway. And standing on top of the mountain he would have the advantage of solid footing to set up his instruments, which he won't have flying through the air in a ridiculous steam rocket.
    .
Obviously, he's after making headlines. It'll very likely be his last.
    .
Watch and see, his contraption probably won't even make it off the ground.
    .

Not sure what he'll prove that hasn't already been done with weather balloons

True. However, globe-earthers don't pay much attention to weather balloons. I'm not sure why.
It's possible that Mike Hughes thinks that people will pay more attention to an actual person going up into orbit. I don't know at what layer of the atmosphere that the weather balloons actually go up into. It's possible that Mike Hughes wants to go a bit higher than that. I don't really know.

The article of the O.P. is a bit misleading and confusing. The opening sentence of the article states that..."A self-styled mad scientist is preparing to launch himself into orbit in a homemade rocket in a bid to prove the earth is flat."

However, the actual theme of the article is not the proposed launch into orbit, but rather it is about a preliminary launch in a rocket that will just make a jump over Amboy, California, a route 66 ghost town. The launch over Amboy was supposed to take place last month. I assume that the launch over Amboy has already taken place, or that it was cancelled. I looked at Mike Hughes Facebook page, but couldn't see anything posted about the supposed launch over Amboy last month. I presume that it didn't actually happen.

Are you enjoying yourself as you prove yet again that you haven't been paying attention?

Let's face it! There are a LOT of things you don't know. Nor are you interested in learning them.

Now you're repeating yourself, but that's okay, some things bear repeating.

That's not "misleading" it's ACCURATE. Maybe that's why you don't understand this topic.

You're repeating yourself again, besides, there isn't going to be any launch that goes over Amboy.

At the risk of repeating myself, I'm going to repeat myself.
    .
You can't take the relevant measurements from any weather balloon.
    .
You CAN, however, take the relevant measurements from solid ground, such as the vantage point of Mt. Whitney.
    .
The summit of Mt. Whitney is easy to reach, even carrying the relevant instruments necessary.

I know this because I have done this, personally.
    .
Of course, Meg doesn't "believe" it, because  A)  she doesn't understand and  B)  she doesn't want to learn.

SEA LEVEL and Mount Whitney's constant altitude (14,508 ft above sea level) proves a FLAT EARTH!!!

Here is a photograph taken of the bronze plaque riveted to the mountaintop, taken by mountain climbers who actually went there.
    .
You can see their ice axe in the photo, in case like Meg you don't want to believe it.
    .

                                An ice axe in use.
    .
    .

    .
So, please explain the discrepancy, that is, once you find it.
    .
Notice this trail was not a WPA project because it was completed before the WPA started (1933).

If you think that photo is "fake" then here's another one, taken in snow conditions, looking south
    .
and another photo looking east-southeast, where you would see the Pacific Ocean in the distance except it's beyond the earth's curvature so it's therefore over the horizon. Your stupid video misses this fact entirely:
    .

    .
Here is a view to the northwest, a High Sierra's valley with lakes that are frozen over all winter long:
    .
All Photos here were taken by hikers who made the trek, like I did.
    .
The next one shows a man sitting above the marker's rock with the camera pointing south --
Where do you suppose the photographer was standing to get this shot, and what focal length was his lens?
    .
Oh, right, you don't know anything about photography either, do you. So you can't answer this question.
    .

    .
What land areas would be visible over his head if the earth were "flat?"
What is the name of the ridge line that crosses his right hand?
What is the name of the ridge line that crosses his left hand?
    .
What is this structure, where is it located, and what is it used for?
What is its intended use and how is that the same or different from its actual use?
    .

    .
When was the wood door installed? Is it the first wood door, the second, or the third?
What happened to the first wood door that was originally there?
When was the structure built and by whom? Who paid for it?
What is the land area behind the head of the man on the left with the backpack in the distance?
What would be there if the earth were "flat?" How far would you be able to see?
    .

Oh. My. Goodness. Absolutely stunning proof earth cannot possibly be a globe.  Yet someone attempts inexplicably to pick-axe the truth? They must not have watched the video.  Or, if they did watch, they were too mentally challenged to understand.  Or, they are intellectually dishonest.
This is one of my new favorites and utterly undeniable.
    Excellent post, TIE

    Fat-earthers can't find the discrepancy.
    .
They don't know what I'm talking about. And they don't care.
    .
Because their false-god sacred-cow flat-earthism idol-worship is too important to them!
    .
Posting a video about Mt. Whitney made by a retarded guy who didn't bother to go there is really funny.

    Thanks for the laugh.  :jester:

It is clear and verifiable proof earth is not a globe, and does not curve along the surface.  The joke is on you, Neil.  Because you are mired in circular thinking.
