  • Also the history of so many cultures believing it also gave a great deal of credibility.

I too give a lot of credibility to the early cultures.  It's only with the modern evolution mindset that it's assumed that early cultures were primitive and ignorant.  From the Catholic perspective, the first human beings were the most perfect, and there was a devolution afterward, and loss of what's been called "primitive revelation".  Adam and Even knew everything about the created universe, and transmitted much of it to their offspring, etc.  Modern scientists are "baffled" when they make archaeological finds indicating that their knowledge was in some ways much more advanced than ours.

  • WW3 is just beginning and you're worried about what shape the planet is?

    Absolutely!

A wise man understands the implications of a worldwide deception. Just for starters, it suggests that the world leaders are more "together" than they appear -- which means that the wars and bloody conflicts we observe are only done on purpose, to depopulate. So a sane Catholic man, possessing the truth, would arrive at a DIFFERENT conclusion than his sleeping, sheeple peers: don't get involved, don't get caught up in patriotic hysteria, don't enlist. But if you don't KNOW that we're all conquered, our minds imprisoned and deceived -- then you might sign up and get caught up in every trend, movement and zeitgeist.

So yes, the truth about this ABSOLUTELY matters.

And if the earth is flat under a dome, then there 100% has to be a creator. The whole framework for atheistic random-chance-plus-billions-of-years evolution REQUIRES a big bang, spinning disks of gas coalescing into suns, the debris coalescing into "planets" orbiting around those suns, and then Abiogenesis creates life (which has never been observed EVER, but whatever...). Humans are then nothing special.

    So yes, it DOES matter.

Those why deny the globe earth are deist or spiritual AT WORST. Globers are satanic at worst.

  • Here's the famous Redbull jump.

Flat Earthers say it's a fisheye lens.
Globe Earthers say it's photographic proof of the curve.

But here's the problem -- look at the altitude he's at when the "curve" starts. Look at the "earth globe". This meme sums up the issue BRILLIANTLY.
I'll give you a hint: complete the hypothetical "globe" or "planet" based on the curve you see in this photo. Apparently the Globe Earth is only big enough to fit a few US states!

Even Neil de Grasse Tyson had to admit that the curvature was fake due to a wide angle lens.  In doing so, he had to debunk this favorite argument of the Globers, as well as the long-standing Glober contention that curvature can be seen from commercial aircraft at 30,000 feet.  Why would he debunk these arguments?  It's because of the 120,000 foot amateur ballons that do not have fish-eye lenses.  See, those would expose the Glober lies, so they now have to pretend that no curvature is visible at 120,000 feet.  But mathematical models indicate that it should be, that there should be a noticeable drop in the horizon line.

I've posted the earth curve simulator that shows the drop in horizon line as you go up.  It's based on mathematical models and represents what we SHOULD see from 120,000 feet ... a noticeable drop in the horizon line and some curvature.

Several Flat Earthers were atheists and attest that their discovery of Flat Earth converted them to belief in God (at least it's a start toward faith).

Right, not only does the truth matter in terms of how FE would militate against atheism, but it also matters in that exposing this lie would completely discredit all the "authorities" who use the credibility they have with the masses to manipulate them in a thousand other ways.  If they were totally discredited, the entire many-layered onion of lies we've been fed would start to unravel.

  • This guy here, though anti-FE in many of his comments, disagrees with Tyson and shows using VR how the curvature should be fairly obvious at 100,000 feet (just below the Red Bull jump and amateur balloons), and you can see it for sure when he stops at that level.  And yet it's not visible from the amateur balloons that went up to about 120,000 feet.  Hmmm.

I’ve never heard anyone contend that the curvature of the Earth can be seen at 30,000 feet (around Mount Everest height). I always thought that the minimum height was 35,000 feet.

Anyway, I have a friend that used to fly on the Concord. He said that he *did see* the curvature when he flew on it. It’s cruising altitude was between 50,000 and 60,000.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

You haven't been arguing with Globe Earthers.  That's a common claim.  I even heard one pilot (a neighbor of mine) who flies normal altitude of about 30,000 feet claim he could see it.  But, yes you should being to see it slightly by 60,000 and certainly by 100,000 feet ... despite with Tyson said here.  There's plenty of amateur balloon video from about 120,000 feet that shows the horizon completely flat and at eye level.

Could you link the earth curve simulator you referenced again here? I'd like to try it out

Yeah, I tried to find it but couldn't.  I've posted it here before.  It's a Youtube video where it shows the horizon line / curve at various altitudes as a balloon is rising.  I'll see if I can find that.

  • ah ... here it is.  I used Google search on "Ladislaus Cathinfo.com earth curve simulator".  I couldn't find it with the message board search, and a direct search from Google does not bring this up anymore.  120,000 feet is at about the 16 second mark.  That's about where the Red Bull jump was, and you should certainly be seeing curvature and a drop in the horizon line.  I grabbed some screenshots of a view from a camera inside the Red Bull capsule when it was on the ground and then when he opened the hatch at about 128,000 feet.  You can see from the same camera that the horizon line had not dropped an inch from when he was on the ground.  I'll see if I can find those pictures.

  • Here's a different one.  This drop in the horizon line absolutely would happen on a globe ... zero question.  But it doesn't.
