  • Well I plugged it in and it sounds like the flatheads are a deeply disturbed and disturbing religious cult - total fanatics for sure.  I'd definitely stay far, far away - about the same distance I'd keep sedevacantists!  Wait, I am a sede these days... and I'm starting to lean toward flat earth...  help!!!

  • I appreciate you chose Yandex and not Google (because that would have been slightly worse) but still -- Yandex isn't exactly run by Trad Catholics in love with God and the truth 100%.

Looking at their "images" section about Flat Earth, I'm going to have to say they're almost as bad as Google when it comes to disinfo and propaganda.

Rather than pointing to a secular search engine result and dismissing an idea out-of-hand without even looking into it, why don't you watch this video about what Flat Earth is REALLY about?

  • Yeah, by not deleting my innocent post

I'd say "Welcome back," but I cannot feign such niceties.

Address the ideas and arguments put forth in the video, or choose to not do so.

As for the video, it is excellent. Thank you, Matthew. :cowboy:

  • I merely trimmed some posts in another thread. I left the original posts in my quote/response. I wasn't trying to censor anyone, as evidenced by my leaving all his other crap posts alone, and deigning to respond to them, when frankly they didn't merit a response.

The thread was getting way too long, considering there was zero substance.

Keeping a thread streamlined and easy for newcomers to read is part of a moderator's duties.

  • Here are my top proofs ...

    1) Dr. John D two-way laser experiment
REASON:  100% eliminates the possibility of "refraction", the only deus ex machina retort Globers have against the "see too far" experiments.  In order to have downward refraction, you would need continually-increasing density gradient.  But if you have continually-increasing density in one direction, it would be continually decreasing in the opposite direction, causing that laser to refract up and out of view, which is absolutely impossible given that the lasers were on a line within 10 feet of each other.  Was also pre-announced, streamed live, and witnessed by others.

    2) Ice Lights experiment
REASON:  "refraction" is nearly impossible in such cold/frozen conditions since the air is capable of holding very little moisture at those temperatures

    3) Distance Records from long-distance line of sight transmission mechanisms
REASON:  Neither of these experiments was conducted by Flat Earthers, so that one could claim an agenda.  Most compelling are the world-record microwave transmission across the Mediterranean (boasted of by the company that achieved this), transmitting broadband data using microwaves that are 100% line of sight, over 200 miles.  In addition, there was a recent UHF transmissions detected 8 miles away, with another line of sight transmission mechanism.  Add to this the WW2 German technology that could only have worked line of sight, and the US radar triangulation technology, which also could only work line of sight.

    4) J Tolan Photogrammetry and Infrared Photography
REASON:  Photogrammetry software is known to be highly accurate in creating 3D representations of visual data.  Using top-end photogrammetry software, J Tolan fed infrared pictures taken across hundreds of miles of a flight into the software, which indicated that the earth was 100% flat over the course of his journey.

    5) Long Distance Photography records
REASON:  performed by individuals who are not flat earthers (unaware of the implications of their videos) and verified for the purposes of the records.  One showed the Alps from 700 miles away, which should have been hidden under 85 miles of curvature, and another a lighthouse about 150 feet above sea level from 230+ miles away, which should have been hidden by about 15 miles of curvature.

    6) Dr. John D "Black Swan" wind turbine video
REASON:  Dr. John D's wind turbines line up perfectly as they would be expected giving the lines of perspective, which would be impossible unless the amount of refraction was absolutely consistent for the entire 11 miles between him and the farthest wind turbine.  Refraction between mile 11 and mile 10 would have to be identical to the refraction between mile 10 and mile 9, etc. ... for 11 miles.

    7) Video showing sun shrinking in size
REASON:  Video taken by a soldier in Afghanistan (not a flat earther) in very dry desert conditions shows the sun getting smaller, almost disappearing to a dot, as it got farther away.  If the sun were 93 million miles from earth, it would only shrink by a fraction of 1% in size as it moved around the earth.  But the sun went from very large to the size of a dot before disappearing.  There's no possible explanation for this.

    8) Amateur Balloon Video from 120,000 up
REASON:  all mathematical models indicate that the horizon line should drop significantly at that altitude, but the horizon line remains at eye level.  Also, if you see how high the 120,000 feet is, that is the same degree of curvature one should see from one end of Kansas to the other, so the curvature would absolutely be noticeable at that altitude.  These videos are the reason that Neil de Grasse Tyson had to debunk the RedBull jump's wide angle lens and claim (falsely) that at 120,000 feet "that stuff is flat".  No, the curvature should be very visible at that altitude.  So they had to throw "RedBull" under the bus to salvage globe earth.  This is despite the fact that Globers had regularly claimed that curvature is visible from the 30,000 feet that commercial airliners usually travel.

  • Let's stay intellectually honest here.
Would intellectual honesty include at least some solid attempts to prove a globe earth in that video just to cover all bases? They are not very thorough in that video. Thorough enough in giving all the reasons they can to convince someone of a flat earth, convincing by the sheer quantity of examples rather than by how strongly those examples prove flat earth, but not thorough enough to even attempt to explain how they could work on a globe.

Most of it is fodder for the simple minded. Very little holds any weight against globe earth. Granted I'm only 50min in, but it's off to a bad start using the same crap techniques of any other FE video. Basically showing some optical illusions of their own whether they realize it or not. I have in person seen the sun cast shadows of the landscape up onto clouds, and illuminate the under side of clouds from below, even seen what must have been earth's landscape projected onto a waning moon, and have not received any flat earth explanations to what appears to be globe earth proof. I don't think this video merits any more of my time

There are things that are much more worth while to put you repeated effort into, maintaining clean and at surface threads for. WW3 is just beginning and you're worried about what shape the planet is?

  • Dubay's concluding monologue is well worth a listen.

Now, the one proof I haven't seen before is the distances between lines of longitude in the Southern "hemisphere"; this is very important and needs to be explored more.

Being intellectually honest is the opposite of what you exhibit.

Perhaps you could start by refuting the list of "Top Proofs" I present above.  But, oh wait, you've never refuted anything ... but merely pontificate, ridicule, and mock, gratuitously throwing terms like "crap" out there.  Only crap is the mush between your ears.

False.  This has been debunked, including recently by a professional engineer.

Because you say so ... without actually refuting a single point.

Oh, only untold millions of souls have lost the faith due to modern science, between the Big Bang, leading to evolution, old-earth cosmology, etc.

If it doesn't matter, why are you so hostile to it, eh?  You should just blow this off and post on the WW3 thread.  It doesn't matter, but you spend significant amount of time posting (albeit with zero substance) against Flat Earth threads.  If it didn't matter, then the Flatness of the earth shouldn't matter to you.  But somehow it does, eh?

  • Here's the famous Redbull jump.

Flat Earthers say it's a fisheye lens.
Globe Earthers say it's photographic proof of the curve.

But here's the problem -- look at the altitude he's at when the "curve" starts. Look at the "earth globe". This meme sums up the issue BRILLIANTLY.
I'll give you a hint: complete the hypothetical "globe" or "planet" based on the curve you see in this photo. Apparently the Globe Earth is only big enough to fit a few US states!

  • The funny thing in reading all of these responses is that they are highly intellectual.
While they are valid and have helped support my belief in the flat earth
the number one thing that made me believe is all the bioblical scripture that points to a flat geocentric model.
God said it in holy scripture and so we should believe it.
Also the history of so many cultures believing it also gave a great deal of credibility.
With so much propaganda going on with our history and science and then seeing what the ancients believed was also eye opening.
