One Million miles guaranteed
Thermonuclear explosion-proof windshield
If a window breaks in a TNE you get a full refund
Zero to sixty mph fully loaded w/ 80,000 lbs. in 20 seconds
No-payload acceleration 0-60 in 5 seconds
(Your car probably can't do that)
Guaranteed seven cents per kilowatt hour operation cost
Six motors in the 6 cab wheels
Diesel trucks are twice as expensive
This beats RAIL
Impossible to jacknife so truck drivers' worst nightmare is now GONE
But flat-earthers couldn't care less (maybe there are no FE truck drivers)

Flat-earthers are absolutely terrified by the Tesla truck.
.

Actually, there might not be any flat-earthers in the market for a Tesla truck because they couldn't afford one anyway.
.
They would have to get billions more YouTube views of their fantasy flat-earthism videos to earn enough for a down payment.

This is the perfect example of an elitist attitude: scorn for those who appear to have less. :barf:

Is that all you have to say about the truck that's going to transform the industry of distribution?

65 mph up 5 degree climb? Not if you're behind a diesel that can only do 45. And the vine is a 7, I believe.

.
The Grapevine? (Golden State Freeway south of Bakersfield?)
.
Wait 'till you see fully loaded Tesla trucks passing up cars climbing the grapevine, going maybe 60 mph.
Who knows, they might go 65. This is just the prototype.
.
Going DOWN the grapevine they'll have to obey the truck speed limit, though. I think it's 35 mph.
.
Eventually the Tesla trucks ought to be exempted from that, though.
.
Don’t Miss the Sign - 35 MPH Grapevine
.
For students, a 4.0 average grade is great, for truckers, not so much. The North-bound descent on I-5 in the “Grapevine” is a five-mile, six percent grade, with an average 4.0 percent grade over the five miles. This section of I-5 is posted for 65 mph for regular traffic and 35 mph for truckers and other vehicles that fall under CVC 22406 (http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=22406.&lawCode=VEH) and 22407 (http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=VEH§ionNum=22407.) VC, this is mainly three-axle trucks and vehicles towing a trailer or another vehicle. What many drivers don’t consider is that same CVC 22406 pertains to vehicles towing recreational vehicles, as well. In case you’re not good at math, that’s a 30-mph differential speed.
.
-
.
Apparently there's a 45 mph speed limit for trucks going UP the grapevine, or south from Bakersfield.
.
So until the law is changed for Tesla trucks, they'll have to keep it slow there.

This is extremely cool. Among other things, this will be great for traffic, not have to worry about those dumb trucks that take about 10 minutes to work their way up to highway speed ... especially at an onramp so that you're stuck behind them trying to get onto the highway at 25MPH. Plus, all this for half the cost of a diesel truck? This guy will own the market. And, while I'm not an environmentalist per se, this will also eliminate all the nasty truck fumes.
But what does this have to do with flat earth?

Although ... most truck drivers these days are nuts, so I might be a little worried about putting this kind of power in their control. About 3-4 decades ago, truck drivers were the best drivers on the road, and the most courteous. Now they're the worst.
Of course, the NEXT step is that these will be driverless trucks and will just automatically move cargo. So you won't have to worry about drivers needing to sleep. You could have one of these running for as long as it'll hold a charge. Speaking of which, does it say how many hours it can run on a full charge?

You're so funny, Neil! :laugh1:
Actually, the other truck manufacturers are going to have to do something to compete with the Tesla Truck. I have a family member who works for Paccar, and he said recently that they are developing an truck that runs on AI, which will be partly self-driving. There will still be a driver, but he will more of a navigator, rather than a driver.
-
Here's a short video, for anyone who's interested, about Paccar's AI (artificial intelligence) self-driving or "autonomous" trucks. The little docuмentary was filmed at Paccar's tech center in Mt. Vernon, WA, not far from where I live. The autonomous truck will help to eliminate or reduce driver fatigue, and presumably cause less accidents.

Imagine when one of these stupid things malfunctions and drives through a red stop light at 50+ mph during rush hour.
-

Typical female naivete.
These autonomous trucks are really about ultimately replacing human drivers with AI for the sake of profit. It's another attack on the middle & working class by further displacing workers from skilled jobs in an already endangered job market.
Being a bartender or barista, or working at Wal-Mart or some lame AT&Tumor customer service job, isn't going to keep America afloat.

If you watch the video I posted, you'll see that it says that there will not actually be driverless trucks. The truck driver will still be there. No loss of jobs.
However, I suppose that maybe in the future it may be that there won't be drivers in these trucks. That's certainly possible.
Off-topic, but what will keep America afloat, ultimately, aren't jobs working for other people or companies. But then I'm a Chester-Belloc fan. :)

That's exactly the objective.
The naive think this is "technological progress", hence, they welcome it with the smokescreen of "benefits" while failing to see the ulterior motive.

IMO, the motive for this technology is making money. That's usually the bottom line. Being competitive with companies like Tesla will mean that new technology will have to be embraced.

Yes, as I said earlier, it's about maximizing profit. It's done by sacrificing working Americans, which, in effect, sacrifices families who are the building blocks of civilization.
Being competitive with companies like Tesla will mean that new technology will have to be embraced.
Not necessarily. It's the freight companies' ultimate decision to embrace the job-displacing technology. If one company chooses this AI capital to move freight, that doesn't necessarily require a competitor to do it. The service to move freight will not be made any cheaper by this AI. The only difference is more profit made for the freight companies who won't have to pay labor costs for skilled truck drivers. A freight company that doesn't embrace this tech can still compete in the industry by charging the same price for its service, but they won't pocket as much money as the freight company who uses AI. In the short term, however, the freight company choosing AI will incur much more costs because of the capital equipment expenditures of autonomous trucks.
Do not be naive in thinking that a freight company, or any company, will pass the savings to the consumer when they don't have to pay labor costs anymore.
It's no different than a company outsourcing its American manufacturing jobs to China. The consumer doesn't see a cheaper price in the good that was formerly made in the USA. The only difference is more profit for shareholders, Wall St., & the top execs in the company who give themselves huge raises and bonuses.

I agree that it's the freight companies who will make the decision as to what trucks they use. Yes, initial expenditures by freight companies for AI trucks will be high. But I was thinking about the truck manufacturing companies, which I have been commenting on, rather than freight companies. I think that it may be a good idea to have electric trucks, by Tesla. It may help to lesson dependence on foreign oil, and therefore there may be fewer wars.
You're right about the freight companies probably passing on their higher costs for AI (or Tesla) trucks. Both companies will charge a lot for their trucks, no doubt. I think that Paccar trucks are made here in the USA, mainly in Texas, I think. I would think the same about Tesla trucks, but I'm not sure about that. American made products are often more expensive than Chinese goods.
On the other hand, I'm not a fan of corporations in the first place. Better to have higher taxes for large companies, and little to no taxes for small companies, though it's the larger companies that can afford the innovations. Not that innovation is always good.

The response flat-earthers have to SpaceX videos is "They're fake."
And "Elon Musk speaks the language of Antichrist."
They're terrified of satellites, therefore they say "man-made satellites do not exist" while Mr. Musk launches another one.
Total apoplexy from flat-earthers.
.
This is their opportunity to say that the Tesla truck does not exist, and this is all CGI, you know, like globe earth photos.
.
After the Gigafactory is built, they can have a chance to say that's all CGI, too.

That's just silly. You yourself admitted that the recent SpaceX videos purported to be from space could have been made in studio.
How does that lead to the conclusion that electric vehicles don't exist?
Just because Musk is behind both?

Who exactly said that ALL of the video was purported to be from space? The video segments showing the separation of the boosters and the fairing had the live earth in the background which is okay, believable (unless you're a flat-earther). The roadster is another topic, really. Good PR. You didn't think that David Bowie's "Space Oddity" could be heard in the vacuum of space, did you? Wasn't that a bit deceptive to say the least? Oh, right, I shouldn't be giving flat-earthers any ideas. I should let them come up with their own, right?
