For students, a 4.0 average grade is great, for truckers, not so much. The North-bound descent on I-5 in the “Grapevine” is a five-mile, six percent grade, with an average 4.0 percent grade over the five miles. This section of I-5 is posted for 65 mph for regular traffic and 35 mph for truckers and other vehicles that fall under CVC 22406 and 22407 VC, this is mainly three-axle trucks and vehicles towing a trailer or another vehicle. What many drivers don’t consider is that same CVC 22406 pertains to vehicles towing recreational vehicles, as well. In case you’re not good at math, that’s a 30-mph differential speed.

This is extremely cool.  Among other things, this will be great for traffic, not have to worry about those dumb trucks that take about 10 minutes to work their way up to highway speed ... especially at an onramp so that you're stuck behind them trying to get onto the highway at 25MPH.  Plus, all this for half the cost of a diesel truck?  This guy will own the market.  And, while I'm not an environmentalist per se, this will also eliminate all the nasty truck fumes.

But what does this have to do with flat earth?

Although ... most truck drivers these days are nuts, so I might be a little worried about putting this kind of power in their control.  About 3-4 decades ago, truck drivers were the best drivers on the road, and the most courteous.  Now they're the worst.

Of course, the NEXT step is that these will be driverless trucks and will just automatically move cargo.  So you won't have to worry about drivers needing to sleep.  You could have one of these running for as long as it'll hold a charge.  Speaking of which, does it say how many hours it can run on a full charge?

Here's a short video, for anyone who's interested, about Paccar's AI (artificial intelligence) self-driving or "autonomous" trucks. The little docuмentary was filmed at Paccar's tech center in Mt. Vernon, WA, not far from where I live. The autonomous truck will help to eliminate or reduce driver fatigue, and presumably cause less accidents.
