Can it be done?
The heavy lift of this project is getting on that flight. But I've got over 14k subscribers and I think we can do this! Once the ticket is secured, the rest is what I've been doing for years. Collecting the information and putting it together in a format that is clear and compelling. (Ladislaus should be impressed, if it's compelling.)

Where is this flight going?
The flight from New York has four stops: Rio Gallegos, Argentina; Perth, Australia; Beijing, China; and back to New York.

During the stopovers (at minimum), I'll be broadcasting live on social media and relaying any data that was unable to be sent from in the air. Prior to the journey, I'll be setting up a website that will plot my location as I check in through the in-flight Internet and setting up communications with outside supporters to relay data to them in real time.

Why $16K?
.
The cost of the ticket is $11,900. Given that amount plus tax and the cost I estimate of supplying the perks and purchasing additional camera equipment, I then add a little room for the near 10% that Kickstarter will take off the top and that brings it to that value. I own all the editing equipment I would need. The only additional equipment I would need to purpose is a more compact camera and extended power sources, as my current camera equipment is too cuмbersome for use in a small space like aircraft seating.

All the plans Greater Sapien is making for data collection on board using his special equipment might be a dead letter if the passenger rules prohibit bringing any equipment on board. What's he going to do if his contributors demand a refund? He won't be given any refund by the flight production company.

The Kickstarter site allows comments, which you can read, but you have to be a contributor before you can post a comment.

There is a FAQ section, but it's empty. Fascinating. It says it looks like there are no frequently asked questions.

Now, you might think that's because the contributors are not asking for more information or something like that.

But you can register with Kickstarter and ask a question without being a contributor.

It seems to me that since the primary goal of the Kickstarter idea is to fund his flight with the option of returning funds if it doesn't work out (a feature of Kickstarter that Go Fund Me can't offer), he is filtering content of his website pages with the intention of not obstructing the good feeling of success, to keep the enthusiasm alive.
Since questions like, "What about all your fancy scientific devices? Are they allowing you to use that stuff on the Plane? What are you going to do with your suitcases of gear when TSA denies you access? Do you have a business license as a professional photographer? Do you have a press pass? How can you be sure you can get a window seat?"
Questions like that don't help contributors to feel good about donating money to his plan.

Yeah, it would be nice to get an explanation of how they plan to get around aviation policy that prohibits flights south of 60 degrees.
