Ok, well, don't bother responding to me if you're not going to engage in decent dialogue.

A fallacy should not be left standing without challenge. Your fallacy requires opposition. I'll respond to your fallacy.

The concept of
chiasm (
ky′-az-um)
has absolutely nothing to do with the shape of the earth..
The objective in using chiastic (
ky-as′-tic) structure is to teach, to emphasize a principle, to repeat doctrine, and to clarify ambiguity.
When Vat.II came riding into town, its authors actually abused chiastic structure to
deconstruct Church doctrine and to
institute ambiguity. So it's possible to use the Church's strength against the Church herself! They also did that at Vat.II with
obedience.
.
What is a chiasm? What is chiastic structure?
.
A chiasm (otherwise known as
chiasmus) is a literary device that presents a series of ideas, and then repeats them in opposite order. This repetition is to clarify ambiguity by repeating a doctrine or by emphasizing a principle, thereby imparting truth, by teaching.
.
The chiastic structure is just one of a multitude of literary devices that make the Bible an outstanding example of rich literature.
.
Chiastic structure is often expressed by the use of letters. An example of this structure is idea A, and idea B, followed by idea B' ("B prime), and idea A' ("A prime"). B' and A' are the same ideas as B and A (the same idea can use slightly different terminology), but in reverse order, written: ABB'A'.
The goal of chiastic structure is to teach by using emphasis, repetition and/or clarification. .The term 'chi' comes from the Greek letter 'chi' (pronounced ky or ki, as in
Kyle or
kite), which looks like the letter 'X' in English.
Chiasm is pronounced ky′-az-um.
.Although the basic structure of a chiasm is generally ABB'A', sometimes there is another idea nestled between the reverse order. This looks like ABXB'A'. In this structure, the ideas A and B are repeated in reverse order, but another idea, X, is inserted between the repetition. X is emphasized because of its position and because it is the only idea that is
not repeated. (One variation on the norm is to use the omission of the usual reversal of order, CDD'C', in the center two terms, keeping for example CD the same with C'D', C/D,C'/D', instead of D'C'; plus the addition of one or more key phrases in that central area -- example below, for Joshua 1:5-9)
.
Some chiastic structures are complex, spanning the length of entire poems, or as in Genesis, covering three chapters (cap. 6-9). Other chiasms are very simple, such as the axioms, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going," and "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." One silly offshoot of the chiasm has been the entertaining palindrome, which merely reverses the sequence of individual letters without regard for spacing between words, e.g., "AMANAPLANA
CANALPANAMA." (The underlined letter is the pivotal one.) Therefore, the palindrome is (regrettably!) a type of chiasm.
The palindromic Latin riddle "In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni" ("we go wandering at night and are consumed by fire") describes the behavior of moths. It is likely that this palindrome is from medieval rather than ancient times. Palindromes date back at least to 79 AD, as a palindrome was found as a graffito at Herculaneum, a city buried by ash in that year. This palindrome, called the Sator Square, consists of a sentence written in Latin: "Sator Arepo Tenet Opera Rotas" ("The sower, Arepo, holds with effort the wheels."). It is remarkable for the fact that the first letters of each word form the first word, the second letters form the second word, and so forth. Notice the central word, TENET, is a palindrome in itself, AREPO is the reverse of OPERA, and SATOR is the reverse of ROTAS. Those were the days before cell phones, GPS, social media and MSM fake news..
Jesus sometimes used chiastic structure when He preached, as well as did David when he wrote Psalms. An example of one of Christ's short chiastic sentences is found in
Mark 2:27:
"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." Here, the chiasm is used to emphasize His point. This follows ABB'A' structure, with the words "Sabbath" and "man" being repeated and reversed, giving
emphasis WITHOUT USING ALL CAPS OR EXCLAMATION POINTS!!
.
A variation of the typical chiasm, as an example of the more complex, is the following, which Our Lord used while teaching His doctrine on salvation: "So the last shall be first and the first last, for many are called but few are chosen,"
Matt. 20:16. Here, the X figure is placed at the very end of the chiasm, instead of in the middle making it leap out as a conclusion, and easier to remember since it summarizes the whole message: "...for many are called but few are chosen." Who can hear that spoken without giving pause to its meaning?
.Our Lord taught about the end of the world using chiastic structure in
Mark 13:20: "And unless those
days had been
shortened (A), no
flesh should be
saved (B): but for the
sake of the elect (X/B') those
days shall be
shortened (A')." Here, the A figure is the potential ("unless...had been") for shortening of days, the B figure is the salvation of man (represented by "flesh"), and the NEGATION component "no flesh" and "unless" implying the days MIGHT NOT be shortened (if there was no possibility of them not being shortened it would be pointless to say "unless"). Its removal in the B' and the affirmation of shortening of days in A' forms a kind of duplication of the reversal ABB'A'. In "for the sake of the elect" is found the chi (X) figure in the middle, following the ABXB'A' structure. The elect stands in place of flesh that should be saved (B'), and to say that the elect ARE
the flesh that shall be saved (X), even though the text does not literally say, "the elect shall be saved." The X figure in the middle is preceded by a colon, after "saved," and is the beginning of the reversal (B'A') of the AB sequence.
.
This eschatalogical Scriptural teaching of Our Lord in
Mark 13:20 is taking away damnation (for the elect!) and replacing it with salvation (for the elect!), the essence of Our Lord's mission on earth. Here, the reversal of the AB sequence (B'A')
alludes to and is an allegory of the inversion of the erstwhile fate of fallen man, the reversal of his eternal doom, turning it into his eternal reward. This theme is prominent in the Good Friday liturgy, the most ancient and treasured liturgy of Holy Mother Church (which was abandoned wholesale under Pius XII's approval with the nefarious work of the notorious Freemason, Annibale Bugnini).
.
Notice in the middle of all this, there is not a word about the shape of the earth, nor any reason for us to associate it with chiasm.
.
Matthew 6:24 employs a longer chiasm: "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."
.
This chiasm has five parts, which when broken down looks like this:
.
A No one can serve two masters,
B for either he will hate the one
C and love the other,
C′ or he will be devoted to the one
B′ and despise the other.
A′ You cannot serve God and money.
.
You can see that the A and A' in the chiasm are the same idea, as well as the B and B', and the C and C'. This chiasm relays three themes, which are being unable to serve two masters (A and A'), hating one of the masters (B and B'), and loving the other master (C and C').
.
More examples of chiastic structure in the Bible include:
Genesis 6—9 (The entire history of Noah's arc, the Flood and the survival of Noah, his family and the animals on the ark is a 3-chapter long chiasm, with
the Flood as the
'X' in the middle -- which is
"not repeated" -- and the non-repetition of the Flood is reinforced with God's promise that He will never again destroy the world by floodwaters, while He gave us the rainbow as a sign of this promise -- but just as Modernists have abused the chiasm to attack the Church, Sodomite activists, whose nature is to be unable to control their abiding passion to spread their putrid evil all over the globe --- woops, I mean "world," have commandeered the rainbow as their own signal which is a blatant affront to God which shall not go unpunished, to their dismay.);
.
Isaiah 1:21–26
[21] How is the faithful city (A)
, that was full of judgment, become a harlot? justice (B) dwelt in it, but now murderers. [22] Thy silver is turned into dross (C): thy wine is mingled with water. [23] Thy princes are faithless, companions of thieves: they all love bribes, the run after rewards. They judge not for the fatherless: and the widows cometh not in to them. [24] Therefore saith the Lord the God of hosts, the mighty one of Israel: Ah! I will comfort myself over my adversaries: and I will be revenged of my enemies (X). [25] And I will turn my hand to thee, and I will clean purge away thy dross (C'), and I will take away all thy tin. [26] And I will restore thy
judges as they were before, and thy
counsellors (B') as of old. After this thou shalt be called the city of the just, a
faithful city (A'). (Sequence = ABCXC'B'A')
.
Joshua 1:5–9 [5] No man shall be able to resist you all the days of thy life: as I have been with Moses, so will I be with thee (A): I will not leave thee, nor forsake thee. [6] Take courage, and be strong (B): for thou shalt divide by lot to this people the land, for which I swore to their fathers, that I would deliver it to them. [7] Take courage (B repeated) therefore, and be very valiant: that thou mayst observe and do all the law (C), which Moses my servant hath commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayst understand all things which thou dost. (C/D) [8] Let not the book of this law depart from thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate on it day and night, that thou mayst observe and do all things (C') that are written in it: then shalt thou direct thy way, and understand it (C'/D'). [9] Behold I command thee, take courage, and be strong (B'). Fear not and be not dismayed: because the Lord thy God is with thee (A') in all things whatsoever thou shalt go to. (Sequence order: ABC/D, C'/D'B'A' -- X is replaced with the reversed pattern C/D,C'/D', instead of having the usual CDXD'C' in the middle. X is as it were implied by the repetition C/DC'/D', and the addition of the phrases: "turn not from it to the right hand or to the left" and, "Let not the book of this law depart from thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate on it day and night...," which is effectively an EMPHASIS on the meaning of "observe and do all the law/things." This chiastic device brings such meaning and emphasis into focus once one recognizes the chiasm and sees its related parts and complexities in variation, because by recognizing where and how the variation takes place, one can recognize the emphasis for what it is. Without recognizing the chiasm the fact of the variation and emphasis seems to the casual reader as mumbo-jumbo or, as they said at Vat.II, "USELESS REPETITION!!").
Matthew 23:12: "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled: and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."
