For me to see the appreciation of this particular aspect among all possible and myriad angles... of Blessed Ann Catherine Emmerich's writings raises a smile; to me it seems these observations can only come from people raised Catholic who have had the luxury of having such a source in their back yard so to speak! This isn't criticism; this is looking at something which is valuable... the very ease with which a rather obscure if fascinating continuing debate becomes a focus; I rather marvel at this and love it.
Whereas... My Lutheran and other protestant relatives certainly got something they didn't expect and had never seen the likes of when I gave them my well-worn copies of Vol. I and Vol. II for Christmas - one to each of two groups - ! I find giving away books in the Catholic heritage a major way of making a point with protestant relatives, without effort and without any kind of discussion. Yay!
Now the volumes are much more expensive than they were when I got them, I think. I've got so much reading that Vols. III and IV, which will have the information I will find most valuable I think, are waiting to be studied.
