Maps are two dimensional, not three. Also, you’re assuming flight paths take the most direct route. My uncle was a flight engineer for American Airlines for many years. I wish I’d have been more attentive because he explained several times how and why planes don’t take off and fly what appears on a map or globe just straight to their destinations.
I’m not interested in arguing. We’ll all find out, hopefully, if we make it to Heaven. I suspect we cannot comprehend in this life the “shape” of the earth because there may be a fourth or higher dimension involved that our puny minds cannot understand.
My uncle’s most frequent flights at the time of his retirement in 1985, Los Angeles, New York, Aruba, and New York, London. These were on the 747. Before then, I’m not sure. He flew 707, not sure to where. He started out flying propeller planes in the USA.
