This was taken by the the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Space_Climate_Observatory) in 2015.
I know you'll have say this is fake because it would otherwise disprove FE :fryingpan:

Uh, the clouds in the bogus image move as the planet "rotates" but they never actually show any alteration. Totally. Fake.
"Houston, we have a bigger problem than we thought...no one is buying the lies any more...over..."

I have to say it's fake because it is a sin to lie. Frankly, any globe-earth advocates should say the same. That is one sorry a** attempt at creating a genuine image. Forget about the moon for a moment and just look at what is purported to be the earth, watch the clouds, etc. Nuff said.
-
It appears so fake- truly!
The moon looks like a flat cut-out disc (excuse the pun) moving over the "new and improved" blue marble in a very unconvincing way. Yes, the earth "spins" but the clouds on the earth are stationary. It look like a middle school kid put that together. Aesthetics matter. ( Bring back Stanley Kubrick- please!)
Honorable mention at the science fair

:laugh1: :laugh2: :laugh1: That CGI is worse than you'll find on free 'video editing' software. :laugh1: :laugh2: :laugh1:

I am an REer but they even explicitly say it's a composite. I'm just too skeptical of government organizations doing stuff in space, where they can claim anything happens.
-
Embarrassing video looks like animation from a colorized 1950s movie. Cheap, choppy, cheesy. The clouds are painted on and the globe visibly shifts. Pretty shabby.
-
Have any of you spotted the Space Station? Check this link.
https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/index.cfm
First time I saw it I didnt know what it was. Then a friend of mine told me about it. Depending on your location (almost anywhere in the world) you can see it once in while right after sunset. Preferable outside the cities. It reflects the light of the sun and moves faster and brighter than an airplane. It suddenly disappears when it enters the shadow of the earth. Nice spectacle. Give it a try!

Dankward, if I didn't know better, I'd say you're a "plant" pretending to push globe earth, but are secretly pushing Flat Earth.
Are you SERIOUS?
You're going to put THAT video forward as your evidence for globe earth?
That is one of the most convincing arguments FOR Flat Earth that I've seen. It proves NASA to be a bunch of liars and CGI fakers.
I'm always in the group of thinking men who ask tough questions. Sometimes those questions are asked by others first. But I always second them! I always trust my common sense and faculty of Reason above some authority that claims to have dogmas I must believe. My position is "Unless you're God or one of His representatives, please don't tell me what I have to believe."
Questions like "why don't the clouds move over a 24 hour period?" plus very obvious ones like "why is the word 'sex' photoshopped into the clouds on that NASA photo?"
Watching a few Flat Earth videos, I've heard some questions and observations I had never thought of before. Things that made me think. Things I wished >I< had thought of. Let's just say they got my attention, and a lot of respect.
True science is not dogmatic. It is never "settled". It doesn't operate on ostracism and ridicule. It has to do with physical experiments and observations of the natural world. Hypotheses are formed and tested by many scientists. These hypotheses develop into working theories.
But there are no dogmas, heresies, or heretics in science. No derision for those who think for themselves, think outside the box, or ask questions.
That's how I know NASA is NOT made up of scientists. They are a bunch of paid shills, defending their "sweet gig" and high paying jobs by deceiving the public. They probably feel very big knowing they have the truth, and most people don't have a clue. I bet they look down on the vast unwashed masses who buy into their bunk.
-
PS.
I have a message for Dankward and those like him:
Did it ever occur to you, that you can come up with a lame excuse for ANYTHING? What, do you think they're going to stutter and say, "OK, you got me. The earth is flat! Everything we've done since the 1960s is all a big fat lie!" Do you really expect that kind of response?
Excuses don't always hold water or add up. But they fool a lot of people, because they are ignorant about the field in question. People TRUST Nasa. They accept their explanations, their excuses, because they have trust in that organization.
I'm sure they have excuses for why the Twin Towers collapsed into their own footprints at free-fall speed after short, localized fires on some of the top floors. They have an excuse for everything. It's just that the excuses are lame, pathetic, and don't match reality or the facts.
An adulterer comes home at 4 AM after "staying late at work". He smells like perfume because "the guys were messing around and played a practical joke". And the adulterer is not interested in romance because "I'm so tired from putting in all this overtime at work".
The question is: are you going to buy those lame excuses, or think for yourself?

CLOUDS SHOULD MOVE OVER 8-24 HOURS.
It's one of those things you don't see until someone points it out -- then you can't un-see it.
That fake CGI of the earth (in the OP) -- released as a TRUE PICTURE OF THE EARTH FROM SPACE by NASA -- is an embarrassment.
Think about it. Have you ever seen radar of a storm moving around in your area? How much activity happens in, say, 2 hours?
In that spinning earth globe (in the OP), the earth moves but the clouds are locked to the landmasses below them. So the clouds would appear stationary overhead for 8, 12, or more hours. Ridiculous! Completely flies in the face of reality and actual experience.
-
Mike,
Not debating whether the video is fake or not, but related to my own metereological observations having lived in a subtropical area, clouds "behave" differently. For instance, mountain areas in southern Mexico are most of the time cloud covered because the constant east wind from de Atlantic carries moisture and condensates as it clashes with the hills. The opposite side of these hills is almost always dry with clear skies. From an aerial view it would look as if clouds were stationary for weeks or months. Another example is hurricanes in the gulf. It typically takes them 2 to 3 days to cross it from the caribean islands and reach, let's say, the coast of TX. In a 6-12 hr aerial video the displacement would look minimal. On the other hand, cold fronts in the plains have little "land resistance" and move fast. Again, not for debate, just personal experience from a different part of the world.
-
Matt,
Just realized I called you Mike. Sorry about that ...
By the way, the video shows a beautiful hurricane in the west side of the Baja peninsula. I estimate it's just a 4-6 hr time span.

Yeah, you have to believe the authority that produced this footage.
It doesn't prove the shape of the Earth.

Columbus proved that E is sphere... although he suspected such before the first voyage.

Also. the blue marble face is illuminated from our point of view, which must mean that the sun would be in front from our viewpoint. Why didn't the moon cast a shadow on the earth as it was moving across it?

Here we go bashing the Roman Catholic Columbus on Christmas day. Why don't you guys just resign from Catholic Church? why are you here?
Proof is that Columbus found New World

I'm not saying that the video is real because I have no idea, but my guess for why the light reflects back towards the camera would be that it is doing the same thing you see during sunset by the ocean. Wherever you stand by the water, the light from the sun looks like it is pointing at you. In reality there is light everywhere reflecting off the surface of the water, you just only see that which is directed towards you specifically.
If you look at the video, the lower left portion of the earth is brightest, and the upper right is dimmest. That should show you better where your light source comes from.

I thought that the general consensus on this issue was that there is no official church teaching on the shape of the earth. It was taught to be a matter of science, not religion and certainly not dogma. Many church fathers held that the earth was round, and a lot of art shows the globe earth, but I don't believe flat earth OR globe earth are heretical. I would be very careful throwing around that word if I were you.

The post you replied to says Nothing about shape of E

While we're warning people, there are a LOT of new members who don't know much about "roscoe".
In this case, by "new" I mean you joined after 2011! Does that apply to you, the reader?
He is member #184. He joined in January of 2008 (that's not a typo!)
The latest member to join is #7552.
He likes to partake, he likes certain herbs... ...HE SMOKES POT, OK?
If I'm not mistaken he's from California. He also spells his screen name in _all lowercase_ like e.e. cuмmings.
So take his views with the skepticism that you would have when hearing the philosophies and opinions of any pot smoker...

At least cartoons aren't composites. Earth "pictures" are in a genre of their own.

Ok, I trimmed a bit more this time.
No discussion of MJ in this thread. It has all been split into 2 other threads.
