• It sounds serious. I am no judge. Just getting information out to
warn you and your families.  If this super volcano erupt. It will
cause a nuclear winter that will last throughout the world for
at lease two hundred years, and will wipe out most of the world's
population.
After all, it has been about 600,000 years since that last
eruption.  Cannot guarantee that it will not happen in exactly
two weeks.
It is only according to the plans of GOD when it will happen and
we have no control over events.
As in the days of Noah, we still have time to pray and do
penance for ours and the word's sins.
The warnings are out there, we cannot ignore the signs.
The good will suffer with the evil. The suffering of the good
will be far worse because they did not do enough penance.

• At least Toledo won't have to worry about the poisoned water for much longer.

And all that radiation from Fukushima will be buried under feet of protective ash.

Do you ever review your warnings to try to get some objective balanced data about the number of times life as we know it has ceased to exist in the last 50 years?

ggreg, I know you are a really nice and intelligent person. I wish I can
have an open debate with you.

ggreg, You believe the Jєωιѕн Control Mass Media that plays down
the seriousness of the times we live in.
I bet because of the brainwash you have been through, you believe
that unemployment is below 7% and that more people are working
today.
If you believe that my great friend ggreg, I have a bridge I can sell
you in Brooklyn CHEAP.

ggeg you need an reality check. However 99% you say I admire.
You are a True Traditional Catholic and you are in the correct forum.
Always glad to hear from you, please I want to hear from you again.

I want to tell you when I write here, I am full of charity. I
encourage more feedback.

Why in the Hell would I want to buy a bridge with all these disasters about to befall us?

With one sentence you destroy your credibility.

Besides, the video says 640,000 years, not 600,000.  (So what??)

Do you have any idea how they come up with those enormous numbers of years?

Do you have any knowledge of how geological "dates" are arrived at?

Here is a sensationalist hype video made by a woman who mispronounces one in
five words, showing that she has no experience in geology (geologists don't
mispronounce their words), and yet she wants us viewers to believe her "personal
opinion" about Yellowstone and the caldera there.  This is a lot like a 5th grade
science report, and it would get maybe a B minus:

She's quoting from an ostensibly technical article that's loaded with typos and
grammatical errors.   More fake hype.  It's so easy to spot when ignorant people
try to appear well-educated.

It is not I but rather you that believes them.

You are the person who is constantly finding these stories in the "Jєωιѕн Controlled Media", be they Yellowstone Erupting, Ebola about to kill 1/2 of the world or the Y2K bug which is going to take us back to the stone age.

You are the type of person who told the forum 7 years ago that the economy was kaput and the dollar about to imminently collapse.  But 7 years have passed and the vast majority of people still have their jobs and homes and there is food on the supermarket shelves.  Which, I must admit, surprises even me.

The "Jєωιѕн Controlled Media" does not play down these stories.  Everytime an asteroid passes by it mentions how close it is passing and what would happen if it slammed into the earth, because that attracts eyeballs and eyeballs attract advertisers and advertisers pay the bills.  It makes disaster porn films, such as 2012, Armageddon, Deep Impact, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Day After Tomorrow.

Alex Jones and the other disaster pornographers then feed off the fears that the "Jєωιѕн Controlled Media" have unlocked and suggest that the "Jєωιѕн Controlled Media" are not really telling us the whole story and they hype it still further.  Planet X might smash into us, the poles might flip all of a sudden, they really did find alien life in Nevada, Ebola is being weaponised to kill us all, the dollar is about to crash and we should all buy gold.

One American Doctor is flown back to the USA for treatment in a controlled environment and the "Jєωιѕн Controlled Media" helps whip up a frenzy of over-reaction which the loony media then turns into the more extreme disaster porn scenario.

- - -

Now here is my intelligent view on the matter.  You are a peon.  There is absolutely nothing an old man like you can do IF and WHEN Yellowstone blows up or Ebola kills half of the planet.  No amount of rice you can store or beans you can stack is going to help you if terrorists launch a nuclear attack on your town.  I am a peon too, just a somewhat smarter and richer peon than you, but I don't have a private army or the resources of a government or a yacht to escape on or a private jet so I'm in the same hot water as you if TEOTWAWKI happens.

So my defence against all these potential disasters that might befall us is to do my living today and let God take care of tomorrow.  If I am buried under a layer of ash, so be it.  If Muslims take over and I have to live as their slave, so be it.  You are just as screwed under most disaster scenarios as I will be, because you are a powerless, poor peon, just like me.

The difference is that this morning I went to the park with 4 children who went for a cycle and a 6km run while I sat in the Sun and had a coffee.  Then I came back did 90 mins of work, washed the kids clothes and now I am about to sit down and have lunch with my family.  This afternoon I will do another 90mins of work and this evening I'll take 4 of the 7 children to an athletics competition and hopefully see my daughter win.

So far my way has worked well for 30 years.  Since 1984 which is arguably when the western world began to get addicted to disaster porn.  So I've had 10,000 days of not worrying about this stuff.

If TEOTWAWKI happens tomorrow, will you have 30 years ahead of you to enjoy and pat yourself on the back?  Since you're called Roman Catholic 1953 I would assume you are 60-61 years old.  So the answer is probably no.  Life ain't going to be much fun after TEOTWAWKI so why not stop worrying about it and enjoy life now?

Stop worrying and start living today.  Let tomorrow look after itself and admit to yourself that YOU don't know what the heck is going to happen and that you have been completely wrong numerous times before.  Instead of spending time worrying about it and troubling the rest of us with your error prone ideas (because so far none of your threats have actually happened), why not simply make sure you're enjoying your days with as much optimism as you can muster.

In the end we are all dead anyway.  I don't see the upside of your gloomy outlook.  Meanwhile I have had 10,000 days of upside by not worrying about it because since 1984 the world did not end.

Yes RomanCatholic1953, the earth is only about what, 6,000 years old according to the Bible?

Pay no attention to the egg heads who say otherwise. They cannot predict this afternoon's weather, why should we believe they can predict when a volcano will  erupt that'll devastate the whole earth?

More predictions that would undoubtedly be proven false.  What part of Matthew 24:36 don't you understand?

• I often wonder about all the "doom's day" hype around us these days. Some may be true, but a lot is made up. I think that the false info. you find on the internet is for scare tactics. Why would the "bad guys" warn us of what is to come when they want to depopulate the world anyway?

I got sucked in to Y2K and many other false predictions along the way. Eventually, after nothing happens you kind of give up and slack off on prepping. Maybe that's part of the plan? Everyone will eventually get so sick of hearing about "the end" that they will gradually give up and pretend nothing will ever happen. Then BOOM!  God help us.

• Most people don't know that many 1st and 2nd century christians were very much believing the end of the world was right around the corner....I wonder if they're in heaven saying, next year is the collapse (that was a joke).

If the Apocalypse (or Chastisement, or whatever you want to call it) arrives, no amount of "prepping" is going to help you.  The only thing that will help you in that situation is being in a state of grace, and your rosary.

As I mentioned earlier on this thread, there's also no point in speculating about when the end will come, because Christ Himself told us that know one knows when it will happen except the Father.  Trying to guess when the end will arrive is an exercise in futility, and unless you think Christ was lying, anyone who claims to know when the end will occur will always be wrong, because it is unknowable.

Having some stored food with a long shelf life is a good idea, but will you ever eat it?

Long term storage has its drawbacks.  Everything you shelve has an expiration date.  Most people I know refuse to eat anything that's expired.  So, if you buy a lot of dried foods and keep it stashed away, you can either eat it before it expires or figure on throwing it away when you wait too long.

If you eat everything before it expires (perhaps replacing it with new dried foods with expiration dates sometime further into the future), you're going to be frequently eating food that's ALMOST expired a LOT of the time so you won't waste it.  That gets old quick.  The only thing worse than having to eat emergency food all the time (during an emergency) is having to do so after you're ALREADY tired of having been eating almost expired food for years before the emergency started.

So even if you "prep" a lot, it's not a cake walk.

I have a friend who bought a case of 24 Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) for $100, on sale.  I checked the date on them and found that the "sale" cases were a little bit older (not much) than the non-sale cases.  The expiration dates are not prominently shown.  What they show is the date of manufacture, and they provide a separate bar chart that shows the approximate anticipated shelf life, depending on the TEMPERATURE of your storage.

If you keep these MREs in a COOL, DRY environment, they'll last longer, but they do not recommend freezing because the chemical heating materials do not work well when they've been at below 32 degrees F.  If you keep them at 70 degrees, they're expected to last 120 days;  at 80 degrees, 100 days;  at 90 degrees, 60 days;  at 100 degrees, 30 days;  at 110 degrees, two weeks.  These are used in the military, which sometimes operates in the desert, where it's at LEAST 110 degrees, so all their MREs either are in some kind of luxurious cool room storage (while the soldiers sweat it out in tents!), or else the whole stock has to be used up every two weeks.

So, if you get these MREs and put them in a shed in the back yard during the summer, you might have a lot of useless MREs after just a couple of weeks or at best a month or two.  That doesn't sound like "long term storage" to me.  It sounds like you had best be willing to have MRE for dinner about 3 or 4 times a week, or else figure on saying "bye-bye" to them without ever opening the box.
