Was ordering a pallet the other day and noticed their latest scam:
The roll has the same number of linear feet/roll, but stood on end, the roll is 2” shorter than it was 6 months ago.
This allows Charmin to save substantially on materials, and they apparently hope their Munchkin sized roll reduction will not be noticed by consumers.
This nonsense (shrinking sizes imperceptibly) began when inflation took off during the 2007-2011 recession:
Manufacturers started stealing an oz. of meat here, and an oz. of soda there, in an attempt to make you think you were getting the same product for the same money.
But consumers still noticed less food in the cupboard, so the grocery stores made the bags smaller and the carts smaller (ever been to Whole Foods?).
By this time next year, I’ll be able to fit all my groceries in a sandwich baggy.
But when they start messing with my Charmin, they have crossed the rubicon!
