I was unaware that coins belong to the US Treasury.

Nevertheless, I haven't heard anything of coin shortages lately.  That was a thing during the middle of COVID for a while, but not since then as far as I know, at least not around here.

Is that still going on where you live?

I haven't seen OR heard anything about "the coin shortage" since June 2020.  Not 2021 -- That's 2020.

Haven't seen a single sign, not heard a single person mention it, etc. And BOTH of those things were true a year ago. I saw signs everywhere and everyone was talking about it.

Are you sure about your news source? Maybe they are just a clickbait site, and changed the date on the article to "refresh" it and get more clicks out of it?

That is news to me that the circulating coins are of Treasury issue.   Today's coins have only face value.
Folding money are only a debt instrument. Issue only to cover government debt.
I remember the circulating Silver Certificates that we called the paper silver dollars. The United States Notes
last issued in 1963 backed by the silver of the U.S. Treasury. In 1965 the silver coins and silver certificates
were withdrawn from circulation. You seldom saw silver coins by 1970.

Banking Analyst, Catherine Austin Fitts, did an interview on the Corbett Report stating that people should withdraw all funds from the banks and buy coins and start a breakaway economy using coins alone.

Great Idea!

Well, I can't imagine paying for $400 worth of groceries with coins ... every week.  Just to acquire that many coins every month would be a monumental challenge.  Do I pay my utility bills with coins also?  Do I tell my employer to pay me in coins every week?

And if the economy crashes, coins will be worth no more than dollars.

We should start paying with silver coins. They are worth like 20 dollars or so. Maybe copper coins for small change and gold for buying big things like cars. No need to stick with quarters and dollars. But if a lot of people did that the price of silver and gold might go up a lot.

There will be shortages across the board in a few months.

Its how the government gets you to depend upon them (and if you don't behave, you will have to do without).

Communism 101.

COVID is just an excuse (and this political/economic transformation to authoritarian communism may have been the primary motive behind the COVID scam all along).

The difficulties are there, but what the future for the unvaxxed non cyborgs who refuse to be crypto UBI slaves will require is creating small communities with bartering and independent currency.

Yes, it's a thing here in Indiana/Eastern Ohio.  The gas station I stopped at in OH yesterday wouldn't give cash back; the Walmart at our town here in IN self-pay is card-only due to the coin/cash shortage.

This hasn't been an issue since last summer, but is popping up again now, for some reason.

Well, I’m in NE Ohio and I see none of this.  Gas stations and other smaller places sometimes run out of cash because they only keep so much on hand.  There’s been a large increase of people who insist on paying with $100 and $50 bills that wipe out their cash drawers.  They keep limited cash on hand to deter robberies.  I have a relative who works at a gas station, and that’s his report.  I’m not sure why suddenly lots of people are carrying large bills.  Many of these are fake too.  That gas station gets tons of people trying to pass off fake $50s.

This relative also reports huge increases in fraud, people carrying 3-4 different EBT (foodstamp) cards, people driving up in $100K vehicles using EBT, counterfeit bills, etc.

It's amazing how people are becoming crazier every day; and how fast things are spiraling down-hill.

Coin shortage?  I just saw on TV that brand new quarters are being made.
