  • For some reason, I thought it would be good to post a link to this great site. It's been a while, but it's still up!

    http://www.ki4u.com/guide.htm

What you must understand: unless you live in a major metropolitan area (top 20 city) you are not likely to be (mercifully?) killed in an atomic blast. No, chances are you live in *convenient to* but not *in* a major city of 500,000 or more.

Which means you would experience fallout, but no blast damage. You only need to shelter-in-place for 14 days for most of the fallout to decay, and for it to be safe to move about again, at least for several hours a day.

If you don't protect yourself from the fallout, you will die a slow, agonizing, and painful death. Lots of pain and vomiting. Not just you, but your loved ones as well. YES, you want to know how to protect yourself *and your family* if it ever should come to it.

Also, someone has to survive the Chastisement and rebuild the Church. If that's God's will for you, you better not run from it. Just like you don't want to live 1 day longer than God wants, you also don't want to die 1 day earlier either! Do your part, do your best, and leave the rest up to God.

  • Here you go, Ladislaus. This is a great resource that's been posted before and links to more information about the survivability of nuclear attack.

  • I think that survivability has significantly dropped considering that Russia has actually continued to develop their nuke technology

  • DigitalLogos, at least I'm not denying that they have. It's an important fact to establish their intent to use weapons, even aside from their own official stance. It gets more interesting if it is true that China wants to move into the lower 48 states. In order to accomplish that quickly, it would be ideal for Russia to inflict minimal damage to the infrastructure, but enough damage to destroy the US military.

That would involve destroying the missile silos, military ships, air fields that could launch bombers, deep bases, etc. It means most cities could remain intact.

I was never denying that ... just your assertion that it was Russian propaganda to get the US to disarm unilaterally (which was never going to happen either way, and their controllers wouldn't let it happen).

I agree.  If by survivability is meant that 5% of the nation would survive, then maybe.  Russians have developed some nasty stuff of late.  We're not talking about a bunch of Hiroshima-sized bombs going off.  They could blanket the country so that most people would die of radiation within weeks even if they weren't incinerated by the initial blast.  Of course, there are some who claim that nuclear weapons don't exist, but all their "evidence" to date has been entirely circuмstantial, and I am not convinced.

Ok, my mistake on misrepresenting you. Consider the Leftist Anti-nuclear and Protest movement that ran from the '50s - '60s and late '70s to '80s. The United States was convinced to drop the Peacekeepers by 2005 and maintain the antiquated Minutemen, which are set to "expire" within the next few years. There is a plan to have a new missile out by 2029. It sets up an interesting window in relation to the various prophecies we've discussed on here.

God's Will be done. He knows what he is doing, and so if a bomb fell tomorrow, I'd thank God for creating me and dying for me and I'd glorify Him. If the fallout made me die an agonizing death, it would be my purgatory here on Earth.

Yes, death is a mercy, especially when the entire world is thorns and brambles.

I was thinking along those lines the other day. After ordering some chlorine dioxide, I thought, "why on earth do I want to try living longer?"

Well, at my age, it's not so much about living longer, but rather about being useful and productive in whatever time I have left, by God's will.  One one level, I envy my younger brother, who passed away.

  • Brings up an interesting point. Which is more perfect/holy:

    A) Wanting to live as long as possible
    B) Wanting to die as soon as possible ("to live longer is to commit more sins", "I want to go to heaven", etc.)
    C) Wanting God's will with indifference, whatever that is.

The correct answer, of course, is "C".

Exactly.  I always think of it as trying to be healthy enough to do my duties of state well.  Otherwise, my nature is the type to, like you, envy your brother.  But I have tried over the years to really, truly want nothing but Matthew's option C) Wanting God's will with indifference, whatever that is.

I can also relate to the posts by LT, DL & Emile, and got a chuckle out of Jaycie's.
