  • If you win the lottery and spend the money on yourself, it may be a
    big mistake:

    Source

    Car:
    Bentley Continental GT

    Description:
A lottery winner's luck ran out when he wrote off his $200,000 black Bentley Continental after he tried to drive through a flooded road. The 65-yar-old Lottery winner from Herefordshire bought the car after winning a $10 million lottery jackpot in 2008. But he was forced to ditch his "pride and joy" when he drove through flood water in Tewkesbury, Glos., shortly after 8am.

    Location:
    Gloucestershire, England

Pablo would have rescued this vehicle for use in the Cristero struggle.

  • If I win the Lottery I am going to open up an FSSP  Chapel in my area, as there isn't one anywhere near me.

  • hmmm... this makes interesting day dreaming material.  What would I do with a windfall?

    1.  set up a trust fund for the resistance
    2.  trust funds for my kids and grandkids that they can't touch till they're FORTY  :laugh1:
    3. cabin in the mountains.

The problem would be keeping Uncle Sam's sticky fingers out of it!

  • Matthew 6:19-21

"Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through and steal.
But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal.
For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also."

  • Car is still worth $60k with a flooded engine.

He had it insured fully comp so he loses nothing.  Probably gets 120% of the resale value had he not wrecked it.  Because the insurers here always overpay to reflect the replace value at retail.

People who win the lottery are naturally likely to be stupid because people who play the lottery are stupid.

The return on the money they collect each week is 50%.  28% goes to straight to the government as a stealth tax.

It means over the long term you would win $1m when you had spent an average of $2m on tickets.

In the bookmakers gambling on horses or anything else you have to spend 1.1m to make 1m back in winnings.

In a Casino the house's take can be as low as 1-2%

If you are going to gamble the lottery is the worst way of all.

And people who drive cars on flooded roads are stupid.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • I can't help but believe that all forms of gambling are stupid.  And if not stupid in terms of odds, at least foolish in regard to trying to win money playing some game.  But it's not as thrilling to many people to save money every day .. they'd rather "win" a large some with "no effort" and impress others.

I wish some family members would get a clue about how this gambling thing is just a big rip off.
