  • A web-bot search engine designed to keep track of intelligence gathering on internet, picked up a possible threat of secret visitor, namely an asteroid 1.2 miles in diameter, that might be heading for earth and if its correct, the date might be 14 April 2013.

On March 19, 2013, the U.S. House Science, Space, and Technology Committee met in a hearing to discuss threats from space. The comment made by the committee ‘If it’s coming in three weeks, pray” have set of an alarm in web-bot systems and this importuning information from the intelligence network process begun to analyze the public responses.

“From the information we have, we don’t know of an asteroid that will threaten the population of the United States. But if it’s coming in three weeks…pray. “

In February 15, a small asteroid exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, generating shock waves that shattered windows and injured some 1,500 people. On that same day, asteroid 2012 DA14 made a close pass by Earth, at a scant 17,200 miles (27,700 km) from our world’s surface, closer than some communication satellites

  • I don't see how a search engine can predict the future.

If individuals can't predict the future, how could a crowd of them using machines networked together (with some of those people creating webpages and putting information on websites) be able to do so?

It suggests that the whole is greater than its parts -- that a crowd of humans can do wonderful things that individual humans can't do.

I fail to see how it's even possible.

It most certainly can... the field of crowd sourcing is only starting to show it's fruits. All they do is collect statements made about the future and correlates them for then human intelligence to make assessments on emerging patterns based on what various sources are saying.

Of course, these engines will pickup some quotes out of context and produce noise... irrelevant statements about the future, much like this asteroid statement.

I don't think you have put much thought into this post.

There are many types of predictions about the future.

For one, there is the announced future... the collection of all projected events that are organized.  I don't think the TV Guide is an Oracle, but it still predicts accurately what will play on TV.

Then there is the events which are uncertain, but projected to happen with a certain degree of certainty.  By listening in to experts in the domain, you can arrive to a certain probability for an event to happen.  When you collect all of the expert opinions with a bot, you can have a probable picture of the future.

Then of course, you have the totally unpredictable, such has certain type of disasters, sudden deaths, etc...  Bots are completely useless for those kind of future events.

Again, this is not thought through.  It's obvious that many minds, many experts weighing in on the same subject will provide a richer, more diverse, broader insight then the contribution of only one of them.  It's obvious!

  • Google "Harrold Camping"--this world will end as Our Lady warns, not according to a search engine, the work of men.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • The earth has been hit before, look at the Hugh crater in Arizona, and
off the Gulf of Mexico. Scientists claimed that one destroyed the
    dinosaurs.
The odds that the earth will be hit again is at lease one in a
hundred thousand to a million years.
Pray that we will all be in Heaven and will be not our worry.

  • Just an interesting tit-bit: (http://english.ruvr.ru/2013_02_15/Urals-meteorite-allegedly-intercepted-by-Russia-s-air-defense/)

Regarding the recent meteor explosion over the Urals:

    Quote

    ...
According to some reports, the meteor was intercepted by the air defense complex at the Urzhumka village near the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, when a salvo missile allegedly burst the “shooting star” at an altitude of 20 kilometers.

Witnesses reported a sudden change in atmospheric pressure upon the impact that made their ears pop. The space object hit the ground with a tremendous crash that resembled thunder and earthquake, damaging houses in Chelyabinsk and cutting off communications, witnesses say.

Residents of Emanzhilinsk, a town 50 kilometers away from Chelyabinsk, said they saw an object high in the sky that suddenly burst into flames, broke apart and fell to earth. Some people in Chelyabinsk said the air smelt like gunpowder.
