I really hate having to ask for help but I am not working because I have to care for my bedridden wife and our children 24 hours a day now. Even $5 bucks helps because we are flat broke. It's a very humbling situation. Pray for us!
-
I will offer prayers for you and your wife.
You mention that your wife is bedridden. Can she get help at a rehab facility? Usually after surgery for a broken leg, the patient goes to a rehab facility until they can get around on their own, possibly with crutches. They don't usually go home right after surgery. I worked for several years in rehab.
The state of Ohio is fairly good, from what I hear, about helping financially with the cost.
-
Meg we haven't been told anything about rehab. She had surgery on her leg a week and a half ago and then on her arm on Wednesday. They have mentioned possible physical therapy but not anything about an impatient stay.

She went home right after surgery, with no physical therapy? Oh my.....I've never heard of such a thing. Sorry to hear it.
-
Meg she was discharged about 60 mins after the second surgery. We have obamacare and had to drive 3 hours for a hospital to accept us. And the whole time we were there it seemed like they were in a rush to get us out.

Well, yes, after surgery on an arm, there isn't such a need for rehab. Sorry to hear about your ordeal. When or how long was she discharged after the leg surgery?
-
Aug 29th was the leg surgery.

We will help and pray

It may be a little concerning that one so young is suffering repeat fractures from ?minimal trauma. If that is the case, be sure to see a good doctor to exclude potential underlying causes.

I asked the doctor about a bone density scan and he seemed disinterested. Several nurses have mentioned to us that it was odd for a healthy 32yo woman to break bones so easily. I will try to press them on this issue more.

Vitamin K2 is needed for bones as well as Vit D3 and magnesium.
-
Do either of you have family who could help stay with your wife? Your mother or her mother? Or a sister or cousin?
What a big cross to have to bear... Hopefully your wife will now recover well and not have anymore injuries.

My family has been helping out with the kids a lot. My mom helps us watch the baby and my sister has been driving the older kids from school. Still the nights are very hard because the baby sleeps with us. My older sister who is a nun is coming tomorrow for her yearly home visit and I know she will be a big help.

And of course lots of calcium and other minerals.

I gave but I wish you would have gone to Give send Go. I hate to give such a large percentage to a lousy organization like Go fund Me.
God bless
-
We reached the goal. This forum has amazingly generous Catholics on it. About half of the money donated came from this forum. You have really saved us. Thank you and may God bless you all.
I have turned off donations now. Thank you all once again!
-
We went to the doctor today for follow up on her leg surgery. He agreed to also take over the followup for her arm surgery. So now we do not need to drive 3 hours away for that.
The doctor did xrays and said both surgeries are healing perfectly. They removed the stitches from her leg and gave her a boot which she can take off at night. They will remove the arm stitches on the 24th.
Everything is looking good. And my older sister who is a nun is staying with us now for 2 weeks for her yearly home visit. God is so good!

And thank you for the updates! I hope that your wife gets better soon!

It is still going to be a couple weeks before I can begin working again when Roselyn can walk, so I'm turning the donations back on. We are eternally grateful for the help you've given us so far. This forum has been so generous and it has really saved us this past month. I can't express my thanks properly. God bless you all!

A member of this forum (I am 99% sure) has now donated $500 to us not just once but twice again today. $1000 from a total stranger who is obviously a very good Catholic to say the least. I was able to see their name but this person has chosen to donate anonymously so I will not give anything away.
All I can say is this $1000 you have given us has enabled us to buy food, diapers, baby formula, gas and pay our bills in this time of need while I can't work. I am eternally thankful and I hope God will repay this act of Christian charity 1000x fold.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. We are going to use $10 of the money you donated to have a TLM mass said for your intentions. God grant you many years!

The goal was reached yet again. You are all so amazing. All we can do is pray God rewards you for your generosity. I am turning the donations off for the final time now. Thank you all and may God reward you!

It is a blessing to see and hear of when we come together as the body of Christ to help and encourage one another. I await eagerly for the restoration of the church.

December 25th
Unbelievably we are in need once again. It has been a very humbling year.
My wife Roselyn has almost completely recovered from the arm and leg breaks and I began working in October at a new job. The job had six weeks of training, but in the middle of November, I got very very sick and had to miss a lot of training and ended up losing that job. I didn't get any better for weeks and weeks, having incredible pain in my back, shoulder and side, along with fever and cold sweats and shivering.
I finally went to the hospital on December 13 and was in such incredible pain I couldn't believe it. The ER gave me a CT scan and found that I had a gigantic abscess on my spleen that needed to be operated on as soon as possible. It ended up taking some time to have the procedure done on my spleen while I was just taking antibiotics. Finally, last Friday they drained the abscess of 160 cc of fluid and found that I had an E. coli infection. This is why I have been getting sick all throughout November because sometimes some of the E. coli would go into my bloodstream and I'm actually very lucky that I didn't die of sepsis.
Recovery from the procedure has been really tough this past week and I've been in a lot of pain and also been having trouble breathing. They told me that I also have fluid in my lungs called a plural effusion. Now because of the holiday, I am waiting probably until January for the next steps. All of the doctors are out of the office.
Anyways, I have now been out of work again since mid November and we are once again very desperate. It is not possible for me to work right now due to pain in my side chest and shoulder and trouble breathing. I cannot believe I have to ask again, but this community was so generous with my wife's ailments. I don't know where else to turn. Anyway you can help with prayers or donations is highly appreciated.

I'm so grateful to you. May God bless your generosity on this Feast of the Nativity. Double the goal was reached in 25 mins after posting here and nowhere else. I've turned the donations back off and hope to never be in a situation of need to ask again. I had just spent the last money in our bank account buying an inhaler so I could breathe and not have to spend Christmas in the ER.
May God reward you.

I have turned the donation function back on because people contacting me asking me too.

You and your family have definitely been through the ringer...and I am sure that the hospital bills won't help with the financial difficulties. Hang in there!:pray::pray:

I got in with an infectious disease doctor on Thursday who is excellent and renowned in the area. I will spare you the details but he believes my colon is the issue and that it caused the spleenic abscess and especially because my grandma died of colon cancer wants me to get testing asap. I've been reading about colon cancer for the past few days and found a lot of other ways it fits including it often causing fluid in the lungs called pleural effusion and trouble breathing which I have.
Asking for continued prayers. If it is cancer it is most likely very early and treatable.

I went to the Gi doctor today and it went good. I have a colonoscopy on the 14th and an appointment with Woods the infectious disease doctor on 15th. Woods is starting me off flagyl now for infection. Also have a liver ultrasound scheduled. This is because the recent ct showed a lesion on my liver. I was in the hospital on Thursday and the spleen abscess has returned and the plural effusion has gotten very large which is why i can hardly breathe. Woods said the er would be best for the abscess and effusion. Im going in to the hospital tomorrow at 6am.
I still haven't been able to work and finances are quite low. Because of the water in my lungs, I can't walk ten steps without feeling like I'm gonna pass out. I am so grateful for the money you guys gave recently, but it has all been spent. So many bills came in. Anything helps now.

So it's looking like I may be in the hospital for up to a month. I need IV antibiotics for a long time. Pray for me because I despise being in the hospital.

But have you seen this thread?

Do you have anything to say in your defense?
If you are scamming people, the virtuous thing is to apologize.
If you are really going through these tough times, do you have people to corroborate your story.
In an age where people distrust, we have to give extra proof of our sincerity. It is just the times we live in.

Looks like GoFundMe is stalled for the time being. Hmmm.
One of his first posts said his wife broke her leg, in THREE places. Think about that. In the photo his wife looks more on the small size. How in the world can a tiny woman fall and have such injuries.? If she has osteoporosis maybe...? Did he present a Dentist's bill to GFMe? Gimme a break...
More to your point: when will BRO explain and PROVE his unfraudnessmess? (sic)
One guy in Saskatchewan had a fake GFMe, raised $20 K. The judge sent him to jail...fraud is no joke:pray:
Pray.

This is Brogan. Every single thing I've told you guys is true. My wife broke her arm and her leg both in two places and was bedridden for September and October. Then in November, I started getting sick and I've been in and out of the hospital. I could post tons of screenshots of medical records. I promise you guys this was not a scam and I used my real name James Cowan.

Some of my Wife's records from the left elbow surgery. The implant is the metal screws they inserted.

More of my wifes records

Hopefully you and your family will get a break from injuries and sickness soon.

I am sorry for the interrogation, but I was tired of people imagining that it was fraud.

I'm finally out of the hospital. Altogether over 2 liters of fluid was drained from my lungs and almost 1 liter from the abscess. I can breathe again.
Now i need further tests to determine the cause of all this.
Thank you for your prayers and generosity.

Out of the blue my old company contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in working for them again. There are some formalities with HR but I basically have my old job back and it just fell into my lap. God always has a plan.

That is great news! Thanks be to God! Praying for you and your family.:pray::pray:

Great news. God is good.

I did not end up getting my old job. HR decided against me in what I thought was a formality. I am applying to 1 hundred jobs a day now that I am mostly better, but we are completely broke again. It is with reluctance and shame that I ask for whatever you can give one last time. We can't pay our bills . And I am very humbled by this.

Have you tried getting a job in another field? You could try working at a grocery store, or some other kind of manual labor. It may not pay the best, but it would be money coming in at least.

I'm going to start working for instacart for the time being. I am feeling pretty good but I still have to take antibiotics for 4 more weeks. I have a colonoscopy and liver ultrasound next week to try and determine what caused the sickness originally. I'm scared it is going to be something serious. Overall I just feel worried. I need to pray for peace.

I can be scary not knowing what will happen with your health. It's good that you applied with instacart. I work part-time at a grocery store, and I often help the instacart folks to find a product they can't find. I retired from this same store two years ago, but my husband passed away a year ago, so I had to go back to work.
One of my co-workers lost a leg in a car accident ten years ago. She wears a prosthesis, and kind of clomps around the department, and she's in serious pain after six hours, but she never gives up. She muddles through. Another co-worker had brain cancer as a child and she has to take medication which causes her to be loopy, as if she's had a couple of shots of vodka, and she's not easy to deal with, but she never gives up either. And I recall a cashier at the store that I used to work at who only had one arm, but he managed to ring the customers up just fine, which always amazed me.
Have hope and keep praying.
-
The goal was reached again. God bless you all. I have no idea how to express my thanks. I will never ask again.

Hello all. For almost the entire month of February our entire family has been sick with the flu, strep and a severe respiratory sickness. Everyone is getting better now but I am still very sick.
When they did the CT scans and found my abscess in December they also discovered a lesion on my liver. I finally had a liver ultrasound last week. I've been diagnosed with fatty liver and I need to undergo a number of tests to find out more about the lesion.
In March I have to get a liver scan, an MRI and a colonoscopy and also bloodwork and these are all separate hospital visits which will require separate doctors follow ups. I am also scheduled for a CT scan to see if my spleenic abcess and and plural effusion of the lungs has returned. So 5 procedures with 5 office visit follow ups.
I have to turn to you once again for help even though I had hoped I would never have to ask again. Any assistance during this time is overwhelmingly appreciated as I will not be able to work for much of March and were are broke again. God bless you all.

More prayers for you and your family.:pray::pray:
Thank you. It's just one thing after another after another after another after another this year. It's unbelievable.
The G.I. doctor basically told me my liver is failing yesterday. I'm bleeding from the colon also. The bleeding is probably what caused the infection in the first place. It just seems like no matter how many times I go to the hospital or how many hundreds of doctor visits I go to. I'm going to die very soon. And I have no plan for my family. I have no savings and no life insurance.
I'm trying to hold on and trust in God.

Do you have any family or relatives who could take care of your wife and childfen if you are to die?
Maybe talk to your traditional priest if you don't and see if your chapel can coordinate help for your family?
Prayers for you and your family. 🙏🙏🙏

It does seem amazing that you and your family could have so much to deal with in a fairly short time. This may sound odd, but is it possible that you are under some sort of diabolical attack? Continual and various illnesses that plague a family could be a sign of this. I hope that doesn't sound too out there. I've dealt with this in my own family, and the only thing that helped was to step up my prayer life - A LOT. Like a couple hours of prayer a day (or more if possible), and give it all over to Our Lord and Our lady, while doing what you can to deal with your illnesses, and help to find someone to care for your family. It must be very stressful to not know how your family will be cared for.

Don’t give up. Doctors can be wrong. May God bless you and protect you.
We pray for a miracle.

Update: I am still waiting on the results of my liver tests (MRI and Fibroscan) so I really do not know if my Liver is failing and I need a transplant or if it is just diseased. The Doctors at my GI Center are all covering another practice for several months and they also have made several mistakes in my appointments that then they had to call and cancel so now I cannot be seen by my NP until May 14th. It's very hard for me this uncertainty.
This past month has been a month of severe sickness for my family. All three of my sons had the flu with strep throat but they were all weeks apart. Then my two youngest also had ear infections and vomiting a few weeks later. All of this requiring multiple doctors visits. It seems all we ever do is go to the doctor and Roselyn is still finishing physical therapy for her arm and leg twice a week.
We also received several letters last week stating the insurance has decided not to cover the majority of my hospital stay. No real explanation as to why but just a notice that they would not cover it. I would imagine my 3 weeks total of hospital stay combined with numerous interventional radiology procedures is going to be an astronomical cost. My wife and I have decided we are not going to try to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical debt nor are we going to try to raise money for it. We are going to contact all the different hospitals and get all of our bills and declare bankruptcy. It's really the best option.
I have been working as much as I can this past month with the delivery jobs I am doing but we with all that has been going on it hasn't amounted to enough. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Christ's peace be with you and your families during this lent.

So sorry to hear about your situation... Is it possible to claim yourself as paid carer and get some support from the government that way? (I'm not sure if it's a thing in your area) Have you tried calling the insurance company to see if there's an explanation? Perhaps they will be able to appeal it, even though it may take a long time... I will pray for your family, don't give up

You need a new doctor like...today. You said you were slated for a colonoscopy in January, and now it's April and you're bleeding from the colon?
I pray you get the medical help you need, and you do not fall into despair. Pax Christi.

I am convinced now this is a trial that I have to offer up. There can be no other explanation.
For the past several weeks, I have been breaking out in hives all over my body. The itching and burning is unbearable so I've been in the ER numerous times and they've given me steroids and Benadryl. I've taken steroids for many days so now I cannot get tested for allergies until June. They also gave me a couple EpiPen's Just in case it becomes life-threatening. I am almost sure now after two weeks of this that all along it has been a dairy allergy that sprung up now, even though I have never been allergic to dairy in my entire life. I haven't had dairy or pretty much anything besides meat And rice for the past week and I haven't had another outbreak of hives.
I am seriously Starting to wonder if this could all be due to the Covid vaccine and booster that I got years ago. My immune system is shot. I have more or less been sick every day since November.
Still waiting for the May 14th appointment to find out about my liver tests.
Please pray for me and my family.

Of course it's from the trojan horse ("vaccines").
God always forgives the repentant.
Man sometimes forgives.
Nature never forgives.

I am seriously Starting to wonder if this could all be due to the Covid vaccine and booster that I got years ago. My immune system is shot. I have more or less been sick every day since November.
Still waiting for the May 14th appointment to find out about my liver tests.
Please pray for me and my family.
Praying for you and your family!

How did you make out on the 14th?
Here's a book I'm currently reading (and it's embarrassing to admit that I never read it before) that I know can help you. It's certainly helping me bigtime, and I know it's helped many others.
Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence

God always forgives the repentant.
Man sometimes forgives.
Nature never forgives.
My favorite quote.

I hope you're doing better. I noticed you came by on 5/23 but unfortunately didn't give us an update. Hey, that's your call. But if I reached out to people for donations and prayers, I'd feel obligated to them an update. IMO it's the right thing to do.

I'm definitely sorry if I didn't reply soon enough. As far as what is going on now, I was in the hospital with pneumonia, but I am out now. Then my father got a very serious infection and was in the hospital this past week with sepsis and could've died. But he is home now thanks be to God. The trials did not seem to be letting up.
As far as the liver tests go for me It was confirmed that I have fatty liver and it's actually a very bad case And I have to lose weight and completely cut out alcohol or I could get cirrhosis.
Aside from just cutting out alcohol and going on a diet I am trying to quit smoking cigarettes now which I should've done years ago and I am taking Chantix.
Thank you all for your prayers.

Eat more refined sugar and carbohydrates, and cut out the dietary fat. You will shed weight fast and maintain it as long as you restrict dietary fat. Indeed, stop smoking. Stop the alcohol. One reason you drink alcohol is because your body is telling you to consume sugar. If you consume sugar, you will have less cravings for alcohol.

How many “fundraisers” does this guy have going on?
In the other thread you said I was "scamming people for money." Then in your next post you said I should ask people in "real life" like family friends and church members.
Are you saying I should scam family friends and church members or have you quietly abandoned your baseless allegations of fraud and hope noone will notice when you change the word from "scamming" to "asking".
You should be ashamed of yourself.

People in real life will know who is or who isn't truthful. Online, there is no way to tell.
You've had at least 6 different posts asking for $. You have to admit...that's quite a lot. As I said before, i'm praying for you.

I posted proof in medical docuмents and photos on this site so of course there is a way to tell online. I am using my real name. This is just the same as if we were in the same city. I'm a real person.
There are two GoFundMe's. The one in this thread has been shut down for several months.
The one in the other thread has been up for one day and is not for me, but my extended family.
Are you still accusing me of a crime like you did yesterday? Can you be a man and own up to the words that you have said yourself? You owe me an apology for public slander.

What a ridiculous thing to say. When someone publicly accuses you of a crime defending yourself is the most natural and appropriate response.
if you were posting under your real name and posting pictures of yourself and your family and your medical docuмents, and someone said that you were a liar and defrauding people, I believe you would probably respond and defend yourself.
When someone hires a defense attorney do you say "relax dude that's not helping your case."

How can you say I am being untruthful if there is no way to tell who is or isn't truthful online?

Honestly, brogan has only been here to ask for money. Before he needed money, he had no use for the forum. What did he think of us "tinfoil hat wearers" and "extremists" back in 2020 when the spicy flu was raging, and he was lining up for the Fauci Ouchie? One CI member got him to admit he took the jab.
You do realize all his current health woes (assuming they're real) are almost certainly due to this poor decision. "Nature never forgives."
But let's say it was just a coincidence he didn't discover CathInfo until he needed money. Even then, you can see he's had several "ups and downs" in terms of financial need since he joined. But how much have we seen him participate in the forum when he's NOT in need, and asking for money? Just look at his post history. It should speak for itself.
I was raised with Irish culture, which means I don't play games and I'm BS proof. It's obvious brogan only comes here when he needs money. Can we call a spade a spade?
I'm not making any accusations at this time, aside from
1. brogan had no need of CathInfo before his recent long string of woes
2. he continues to have no need for CathInfo unless it's to ask for money
Is that a crime? Technically no, but I can see how that could be annoying to some -- to say the least. Whether it's IRL or online, most people are annoyed by individuals who only come around when they need money.
And yes, when you join a forum, immediately ask for money, then come back every so often, again only to ask for money -- that's going to make people extremely suspicious. As a disinterested third party, I can say that brogan has been doing a poor job of participating in the forum when he's not in immediate need of money.
Best case scenario, he's like an innocent man who appears 100% guilty: attacking police officers, trying to escape jail, sweating during the interrogations, accidentally getting his story mixed up, stuttering, unable to maintain eye contact, having no alibi, having (unrelated to the case) blood on his clothing, etc. In such a case, you wouldn't blame the cops for considering such a man the prime suspect.

I Posted my music and my son's art on here. I've posted a few other threads on here. But you're right that I mainly do come here when I'm in need. I like the forum, but there's definitely some people on here who act and post very immaturely. But 99% of the forum are saintly people that I strive to be like.
I am never going to ask for money again For my family or my extended family or anyone else for that matter, but I will continue to post here.

How many “fundraisers” does this guy have going on?
I agree with this. I don’t think Brogan is lying but his very first post on his forum was asking for financial help. Usually people built some sort of presence on the forum as it builds trust. People don’t want to feel used. They give money to someone who asks for it and then that person doesn’t show up on the forum until they want money again.
I recall a few people asking for financial help or sharing a link and there was not much doubt because they’ve participated on the forum for a while and opened up about themselves that lead people to trust them.

I agree with all of this (and with Matthew's post as well) but given he gave proof once before that he wasn't lying we shouldn't assume he is lying here. I remember immediately thinking at the time that it was a scam, but then he provided proof. I think his request for an apology is certainly reasonable.

Thank you. A good summary of my point.

The actual scenario may be true (or half true), but he knows people will get on and give money.
-
Thank you. A good summary of my point.
How can that be your point when you accused me of fraud? You didn't say that I appeared to be fraudulent. You said I was fraudulent.
You cannot say that you had the same point as Matthew. There was nothing offensive about Matthew's post, but you accused me of a crime baselessly and refused to apologize for it. That is much different than Matthews post.
-
How can that be your point when you accused me of fraud?
I did not accuse YOU of fraud; I accused your username.
I did not slander YOU, only your anonymous username, which I know nothing about.
The internet is not real life. A username represents a person (or it could represent a bot, or even multiple people).
There is no way to "prove" anything (or anyone) on the internet. I'm sorry, that's reality. Grow up and stop being naive.

Stop with the $ requests, man. You’re a scam artist. You’re not going to get to heaven lying to people for $. You better change your life.

Scam does not mean the same thing as fraud.
Not legally, anyway.

Great distinction. We don't know if the user is even who he might claim to be. For all we know it's a completely fictional character. That does not impugn the veracity of any specific individual. IF the CI user is not the person that's claimed, the you you're not questioning the integrity of the person, but of whoever might be impersonating that individual.
If a person who knows me well questioned my integrity, that's different than sineon who really doesn't know me or who I am. Even if they could verify my identity ... they still know nothing of my character and I wouldn't blame anyone for being suspicious.
People really have to stop being snowflakes and to be offended by things that are clearly not personal. If they do not know you personally then you cannot take anything they say about your online account personally.
-
Right.

Oh, OK. I get it. You're not "blessing the couple" you're blessing the "individuals of the couple." OK, I understand now. Actually, you seem like you could use a spontaneous blessing. Better call James Martin.
-
Oh, OK. I get it. You're not "blessing the couple" you're blessing the "individuals of the couple." OK, I understand now. Actually, you seem like you could use a spontaneous blessing. Better call James Martin.
No, that's not it, and you clear don't "get it". ... so you mocking him in derision because you don't understand what he's saying. He's right. Stop being such a snowflake. For all most people on this forum know, this individual you claim to be does not even exist. Someone could easily do that. I could use AI to generate some fake pictures, adopt the persona of someone that does not exist ... or even of someone who does exist (but I'm not them but engaging in identity theft), create an appeal for funds from people who might be inclined to help, and then sit back to watch the money flow in.
It might help your case if you came on the forum here to exchange posts with people on other topics or subjects besides asking for money. If some long-established member here vouched for your existence and integrity, people would accept that. If Matthew or some other well-established poster said, "I know this individual, and he's a solid man of integrity." ... we would all accept that assessment. So, for instance, I know poster ElwinRansom personally ... while I'm convinced that very few others here do. But if I told them that he's a solid lifelong Catholic, former STAS seminarian, a man of integrity (who would not scam anyone), etc. ... I'm sure people would accept that. Lots of people don't care for me, but I think they would accept my assessment on such a manner.
In fact, if I came on here telling my story and asking for money, I've been here for close to 15 years now, making tons of posts, and I people might call me a lot of things, but not a liar or thief (knowing that it's a mortal sin to lie and steal like that) ... people would believe me (even if they don't like me).
But without any kind of independent verification, you can't blame people for being skeptical. Even if the existence of someone by your real name could be verified, how do we know it's actually that person posting here? You really can't.
-

It is not currently possible to make pictures look that real and like the same person in multiple pictures like the pictures that I posted. AI in 2025 is still recognizable as AI and the pictures I posted are not AI and do not look AI. I agree that it would be possible to fake medical records, but I didn't do that.
Also, if you look at the gofundme it says that my ID is verified and what that means is that they have had me upload a copy of my drivers license and verified my name and also that that's the name on the bank account. So James Cowan absolutely exists and he is the one receiving these funds. Maybe just maybe he's the one posting under the name Brogan also.
Only somebody named James Cowan can get the funds. So you're claiming that maybe I could be pretending to be James Cowan and then having all the money go to someone named James Cowan as a scam? That is a laughable clownish conspiracy theory. But you haven't thought this through at all.
Why are you even posting this nonsense that you haven't even thought through? I would bet that you never donated anything so why do you even care about this? What's wrong with you?
-
It is not currently possible to make pictures look real and like the same people in multiple pictures like the pictures that I posted. I agree that it would be possible to fake medical records, but I didn't do that.

Well, I disagree. I think think there's plenty of AI stuff out there that COULD do that. So, again, nobody's positively affirming that you DID do anything of the sort ... just that some unknown individual COULD do all these things. So you need to stop taking this personally. Identity theft is a very common problem, and lots of people get scammed by various fund-raising appeals, so it's not something entirely impossible.
So now you're gaslighting people claiming that if we don't believe you it's a "clownish conspiracy theory". So the more you double-down and gaslight people for not taking stuff you typed here as absolute truth, the more you get them suspicious of you ... since that would be what a scammer would do, gaslight people who didn't buy their scam.
If you had adopted more an attitude of humility along the lines of, "I get it. You don't know me from Adam, and I understand if you don't want to send me anything as a result of the uncertainty. But perhaps I could, oh, tell you the name of this [Traditional or other] priest I know that you all know, and you can find his phone number, e.g. call this priory here, and he could verify who I am." That would be much more effective, rather than gaslighting people who have some reservations as engaging in "clownish conspiracy theory".
In fact, if I were to go on some forum that I had never posted on and where nobody knew me ... if I posted an appeal, I'd fully expect 99.9% of them to be skeptical and in fact would marvel at anyone who would not be skeptical of me, as being extremely gullible and naive." There are thousands of people who get scammed every day by various often-sophisticated techniques, where there could be multiple layers of misdirection.
But so long as you think that any questions or reservations along those line are personal attacks and then gaslight people who might have some reluctance due to this uncertainty ... you're only hurting your case.
-

Have some humility, man. You've asked for money, what, six times already? It's perfectly reasonable that people would be suspicious. If you are actually in need and these are genuine pleas for assistance, accept the suspicions or accusations of a FEW people as a cross that comes with the territory of receiving aid from MANY people
-
So the photos and medical records are not good enough to prove myself and now I have to involve my priest.
No

I think there is a difference between being suspicious of someone and accusing someone of being a scam artist. The former is unsure; the latter is not.
-

Please do not anyone bother Father Holland. It was against my better judgment to post his phone number and I edited it out right away, but then someone quoted me too fast and he is an old priest who is sick. Please leave him alone.

Wow, you this fragile in real life, too? No wonder.

I just sent a message to the site owner asking for my account to be deleted.
Three people are relentlessly attacking me and the mod seems to be joining them now. Matthew said something like the sickness might have been my own fault. A spleen abscess is so rare that only 0.000697% Of the US population gets it each year. 50% of the people who get it die. That is not caused by me being overweight or smoking (Which I'm trying to quit.)
Anyways, once the mod starts attacking you, it's time to leave.

Mhmm. You can leave now. Ya know, like you said you were, since we are such meanie-heads.
-
Did you get the jab?
Even if he did, does it matter? There are are plenty of people who got it, especially at first, before realizing the problems with it. Many have come to regret it.
An acquaintance of mine got the first jab and had absolutely no problems. She didn’t understand why I wouldn’t take it, dismissing my refusal as believing superstitious, poorly educated people online.
She has since entirely reversed her views in the light of further educating herself. She’s an older lady who barely uses internet. She knows how to use email on a tablet, that’s it! She sent me and I suppose others, an apology card. She still hasn’t had any jab related health problems. She had Covid a full year after the jab, a medium case, along with her son’s family and an unrelated friend. All of the others were unjabbed, and caught it from her son while on a group vacation. She thinks she probably got saline. All of them recuperated at home without visiting a doctor. Her daughter-in-law is a nurse who got them them on the right doses of ivermectin.
Would you have less compassion for someone who is ill as a result of the Fauxi Ouchi?
You should not. Rejoicing or withholding compassion to those suffering the consequences of their actions, whether by sin or ignorance is Calvinist, not Catholic. Unless God has appointed you the administrator of Justice, ie. a parent, teacher, law officer, prison guard, judge, or executioner, your attitude is uncharitable.

Less compassion? Absolutely. Less does not mean none and I do not think we are required to have an equal amount of compassion for those who undergo an evil through no fault of their own and those who are culpable for it. For example, I would have much more compassion for an infant who contracted HIV through birth than a sodomite who contracted it through, well, sodomy. The same applies to the jab. The information was all there, if you cared enough to look for it and did not care for human respect

The information was all there, if you cared enough to look for it and did not care for human respect
I get your point. I understand your HIV example, but in a way, the innocent baby suffering AIDS by no fault of his own suffers less. He is not weighed down by a guilty conscience and a list of regrets. Thinking about it this way, the suffering sinner deserves more compassion than the innocent sufferer. In Heaven, there is greater rejoicing over one sinner who repents than 100 who have no need of repentance.

Would you have less compassion for someone who is ill as a result of the Fauxi Ouchi?
Catholics aren't required to have compassion for anyone. Charity? Yes. But compassion? No.
Example: My neighbor is climbing up a ladder to check on his house gutter. I tell him, "Hey buddy, your ladder is off balance. You need to fix it." He responds, "Oh, mind your own business!" and then proceeds to fall and break his leg. Must I have compassion on him (i.e. feel sorry for him), for his stupidity? No. If he asks me to help him fix his gutter since his leg is broken, should I help him? I don't have to, but out of charity I probably will.
Sometimes people only learn through mistakes. In the case of the bull-headed neighbor who broke his leg because of the faulty ladder, I wouldn't make fun of him for his pride (i.e. I'm not going to rejoice that he fell), but i'm also not going to (nor am I required to) treat him like the whole thing was an accident (i.e. "Oh you poor thing. What a horrible accident you suffered."). Because it wasn't an accident; it was a screw up.
Such is neither uncharitable nor is it calvinistic. Maybe you had a different example in mind, but the people who got a jab deserve whatever happens to them. Catholics can help them but we don't owe them sympathy. You can sympathize with them if you want, but it's not required.
Some of this might be the difference between men/women. Emotions don't determine virtue/vice, but actions and the will. I can help my enemy; but it doesn't mean I have to like it. God loves a cheerful giver, but sometimes emotions can't be manufactured (at least, maybe it's more difficult for men?). Dont' know.

Well, this entirely depends on what you mean by "compassion", then. Is the sinner more in need of prayers than the innocent? Sure. But if I had a single miracle AIDS curing pill, the infant would be getting it.

Yes, it's a male-female difference. To me, compassion is akin or inseparable from charity. It’s not primarily an emotion. Maybe we’re talking around and over one another.
What you call compassion, I call “feeling sorry.”
I wouldn’t “feel sorry” for your foolish neighbor stubbornly insisting upon using an unbalanced ladder. In fact, I’d privately think it a little funny that he broke his leg. Is that poetic justice? But of course I’d also have compassion on him and render assistance if I were able. Maybe we’d laugh together a few years after the fact!
It reminds me of the camping trip to CT with my cousins. I was age ten and cousin Peter was 14. We’d (all seven of us kids) all run from the campsite alongside the brook on a trail. We came to a place with a fallen tree over the brook. The tree had been there quite awhile because the bark was gone and it was clearly rotten in various places. Peter, true to his daredevil, show-off personality, insisted we cross on the tree and return to the campsite by the road. The others all refused. Myself, a bit of a tomboy who liked a challenge, considered it. I took a cautious step onto the log, and finding it slippery, I sat on it, thinking to cross on my bottom. Two wiggles forward showed in the center where it was rotted, so I backed off. Peter urged me to cross anyway, and I refused. He pushed me aside and took off running across the log. Predictably, it came crashing down in the middle resulting in a wet boy with what turned out to be a broken arm. His brother John got all wet also because he ran down the embankment to rescue him. Fortunately, the water wasn’t deep, so he walked his brother back on the road and the rest of us returned on the trail. We got there first because the boys had to double back via the bridge. My aunt and uncle weren’t new to this sort of thing having four boys to one girl. They got Peter into dry clothes and left everyone in my parents’ charge. More food was rounded up from both station wagons and my aunt and uncle returned from Danbury with Peter, his left arm in a gleaming white plaster cast. My Dad and Aunt traded beds so Peter and his Mom could sleep in our trailer instead of on the ground or cot in the tent. Nobody in the trailer got any sleep that night, so the remaining three nights the trailer was given to my uncle, aunt, and Peter. My Mom and Dad became the tent parents to the boys, and we three girls slept in the back of the station wagon with the back seats folded down.
At one point, John was punished for calling Peter a “chump,” which meant a clumsy fool. Years later, we laughed about the incident, Peter included. Feel sorry? Not really, not for long! But compassion? Definitely!

Ok so you’re calling charity as compassion. Makes sense now. Agree.

Apparently he did take the jab (see attached graphic).

It just seems especially cynical to consider us "tin foil hat wearing conspiracy nutters" while coming around here for money all the time.
He obviously thought that about us 4 years ago when he was getting jabbed. And judging by the fact that he STILL doesn't want to hang around here (when he doesn't need money, that is) there's a good chance he still thinks that way.
He posts a number for "his priest" and it turns out to be Novus Ordo? So he's not even a Trad? But he's happy to take money from Trads since they're the most devout, serious Catholics. Huh?
So the man is holding his nose while asking a bunch of "rad trads" for money? Isn't that a bit cynical of him?
Especially since if he had listened to us he would certainly have *less* health issues, and possibly none at all.
I would also like to point out that his last 10 posts give away what he REALLY thinks of this forum, at least the majority of it. Some food for thought.

I cannot handle this abuse and now it seems to be coming from the staff also.
The staff? Love it! Got a good chuckle out of that one. :laugh1:

And for all those giving this discussion a "spiritual bent", talking about charity, compassion, and the like --
If you make a mistake, or commit a sin, then you confess it and move on. God will forgive you, man might forgive you, and nature certainly will not forgive you.
But you have to actually be humble/contrite, or else you haven't really repented.
You need to acknowledge your position as a lousy worm who rejected the truth, and now you learned the hard way. You have to really show that you regret your decision, and that you were stupid. When you destroy your life, or your health, due to your own stupidity, there is only ONE attitude to take, in the face of those who had the truth all along: humility.
Meanwhile, those who had the truth all along should be gracious about it, refrain from "I told you so", be humble as well, knowing that it's only by God's grace you possessed the truth for so long, etc.
And hanging around a group of people you want *nothing to do with* except a few times per year when you're in need of money -- that's not cool at all. When you don't need money? They're crazy, extremist, you completely disagree with them. But you happily step in periodically to beg for money? What kind of nonsense is that?
There are millions of people in this world in need. None of us can save the world. We should save our economic charity for those we know locally, our family members, our extended family, and then those "of the Household of the Faith". And that means *Traditional* Catholics. Novus Ordo Catholics are barely? questionably? technically? Catholic. They are one step above protestant, because they have the name, so they get some benefit of the doubt. But they aren't automatically our fellow Catholics; the average Novus Ordo doesn't even have the Faith anymore. All you need to lose is ONE dogma, and you're a heretic, you don't have the faith period. Having the Faith is like being pregnant. Either you are, or you aren't. Either you accept everything the Holy Catholic Church teaches or you do not.

A lot of bearing false witness going on here.
I am a traditional Catholic. I never called anyone a crazy extremist. I told someone else that they were making up a crazy conspiracy theory about something completely unrelated to the Covid shot.
I didn't realize that you were the owner of this forum. I thought you were just a mod. Absolutely solidifies my decision to leave here permanently if you would just hurry up and delete my account. But actually prefer that you start by deleting the name of the priest that you quoted earlier.

What is your relation to the Novus Ordo priest whom you referred to as "your priest"?
-
Detraction is committed when we tell another's real faults; calumny, when the fault we mention is not real, but the invention of our malicious lies.

At this point you have spent more time defending yourself against this supposed "calumny" than you have expressing gratitude for the donations you received. Take your money and go
By the way, what is your relation to the Novus Ordo priest whom you referred to as "your priest"?

I'm sorry, but actions speak louder than words.
You know about CathInfo, you have an account here, and you're plenty handy with a computer. But you have no desire to hang out with us "Trads". Nothing in your beliefs, lifestyle, or habits inclines you towards the company of Trads. Your actions say this.
I'm not directly accusing you of the words "crazy extremist", etc. I'm saying you're ACTING as if that's what you think of us. Talk is cheap. Actions are what matter.
I'm not seeing much from you that screams "Trad". If you're "with" the Modern world, enough to fall for the Cooties-19 madness, you can't be very Trad. A worldly Trad at best. You trust the world? Really? You trust the Media too I suppose? There are some things common to all serious Trads, and I'm not talking about accidental things either, but things ESSENTIAL to being a Trad.
What is a Trad, essentially? Someone who believes there is a Crisis in the Church, and reacts by adhering to the Tridentine Mass -- and not asking permission from Rome, because they obviously were infiltrated at Vatican II. And we don't need permission from any man to keep the Faith and save our soul. If you don't believe there was a major infiltration of Freemasons, etc. into the Church, you aren't a real Trad. You might be a "Latin Mass" Indult Catholic, fond of "smells & bells", but you know nothing of the Crisis in the Church. You might think Vatican II went too far, or that "Vatican II was never truly implemented", or we need "a reform of the reform" -- but those things don't make you Trad. Conservative Catholic maybe -- but not a Trad.
If you think the world is IN ANY WAY your friend, especially the Modern World, you can't really be a Trad. It's an oxymoron. If the world is fine and trustworthy, then BY ALL MEANS go (re-)join the Conciliar Church which is fundamentally different from the Catholic Church PRECISELY due to its stance towards the modern world. The essence of Vatican II was opening up to the modern world. The Catholic Church + Liberty, Fraternity, Equality + Modernism = the Conciliar Church. So if you're open to the modern world, and don't consider it your mortal enemy, you really belong with the Conciliar Church.

Is Brogan from Africa or America?
-
I realize that imprudence and/or stupidity are not a crime.
I would also point out that when I say "Brogan is not a Trad"
A. That is just my opinion
B. That doesn't mean he's excommunicated, not Catholic, or going to Hell.
I guess I just have a firm belief that "words mean things" and that there are objective definitions associated with certain terms, such as "Trad".
Not everyone who attends a "Latin Mass" once is a Trad. It is what it is.
And it's not my arbitrary definition, either. I'm talking about what everyone has called a "Trad" for the past 50 years. Attending the Tridentine Mass exclusively, staying away from the Novus Ordo and Conciliar Church, being completely pre-Vatican II in your Catholicism, and obviously being somewhat wary of the world. After all, if The World was hunky-dory, then how did Vatican 2 sin by opening itself up to the Modern World? Wouldn't that be a good thing?
Trad used to be called "Catholic". Now we have to say "Trad Catholic" (or Trad for short). Part of Trad is adhering to pre-Vatican II morality, which means everything Catholics always believed was a sin, is STILL a sin. That makes us seem extremely "prudish" to the Modern World, and that is just the beginning of why Trads *can't* fit in or accept the Modern World. It's like fire and water.
I think I'm being pretty objective here. I think having a certain minimum of "bunker mentality" (us vs. them, the chosen vs. "those outside", etc.) is essential, not just accidental, to the Traditional movement. I mean, aloofness from the Conciliar Church (which is Catholic Church + Modern World) is one of the basic tenets of being a Trad. Rejecting the Conciliar Church is our raison d^etre. How can you be aloof from something and accept it at the same time?
-
At least one person has told me that some individuals were being "mean" to Brogan.
But all I'm saying is that he only comes here when he wants money (true), and that in my opinion he's not a Trad. I'm going by his actions.
Some might be naive, want to hope for the best, etc. but I don't mess around that way or play those sort of games. I have to see some evidence of Trad-ness before I bestow that label on someone. I'm pretty easy too. Hanging out on a Trad forum would be one sign that you're interested in the movement. That's pretty cheap and easy to do. Not exactly a high bar there.
Or living a Trad life. Doing Trad things. Standing out from the World in various ways. Dressing, talking, studying, playing, praying, and living in a pre-Vatican II Catholic way. Having a Trad priest for a confessor. Having or at least desiring Trad friends, and the companionship of other Trads whenever possible, rather than foolish worldlings. That kind of thing.
And we're all on a journey. We're all imperfect. We've all learned more over the years. But we were always learning and trying. There has to at least be the effort, the commitment to serving God as a (Trad) Catholic during this grave Crisis in the Church.
Trad doesn't equal genius, expert, or saint. But it does require a certain MODIcuм of commitment to standing out as a "radical" Catholic amidst a Church in Crisis and a degenerate Modern World that is absolutely opposed to our salvation, as never before. A certain MODIcuм of standing up for Truth against error -- seeking the truth at least, even if you only grasp the full truth about everything only after decades of effort.

Agree, it’s important to keep clarifying, explaining and protecting the Trad “brand”. It has certainly been watered down.
I was talking to a catholic woman once and she said that she considered herself a “traditional” catholic. “Oh, really?” I said, and I inquired more about her catholic history and church attendance. Come to find out….she had never been to a Latin mass. I was confused, to put it mildly.
Her comment was not part of a debate or anything but a casual comment related to her church background etc. She wasn’t even indult. But she did seem quite “conservative” in her manners and ideas of the Faith. I thought to myself, “How did the idea of Tradition get divorced from the Latin mass?” This is, at least, the bare minimum connection. Still puzzles me.
So, yes, to your point, it is important to keep redefining what a Trad is and used to be.
