:laugh1::laugh2: Finally! Someone else who likes the smell of WD-40!
I don’t know about cleaning firearms with it, but I used it yesterday to clean two really gunned up can openers!
It also cleans grills and barbecue racks. But be sure to thoroughly rinse them before use with food. You don’t want to ingest the stuff or have prolonged skin contact with it.

It kills ants too!

The key problem regarding gun cleaning is that WD-40 is a penetrating oil. It can penetrate into cartridges and inactivate the propellant powder and/or primer.
I learned this the hard way while a university student. The press of studies kept me away from the range for a couple of months. When break arrived and I went to the range, With the very first round, I had a squib load with commercial ammunition. I sent the remaining ammo to the factory for examination. They determined that the culprit was the WD-40 that I had used to clean the revolver..
So… don't use WD-40 for gun cleaning.
Use a proper CLP cleaner.

Also, do not use it to polish auto glass or interior vinyl. It weakens both. The vinyl peels and the windows will shatter or crack with the slightest ding or nick. M6 nephew learned the hard way with his first car windshield!
