  • Their Catholic Cathedral is destroyed.  Unlike Haiti's Cathedral in which 168 priests and seminarians perished, this great church was already empty due to Christchurch's earthquake of last Sept. 4th.

I was wondering about our member Jamie from NZ.

How heart-wrenching all these earthquakes are.  They show the awesome power of Almighty God, and the need to stay in a state of sanctifying grace.

  • Wasn't it an Anglican cathedral that was severely damaged?  Are you saying that a Catholic cathedral also was damaged/destroyed?

Our hearts go out to all New Zealanders who have been affected in any way by this devastating earthquake, particularly the families of those who have passed away. May their souls rest in peace. We are praying for all of you.

The Catholic Cathedral severely damaged is called the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

The Protestant cathedral was badly wrecked, also.

The area took a terrible hit; the quake was really shallow.
