This part of Harlem is "gentrified." It's become a Disney version of a black neighborhood. On the same day a 30 year old father of two of mixed Hispanic/Caucasian race was shot and killed in a drive-by incident in Corona Queens, half a block from a Korean owned Catholic supply store, a "good" neighborhood and area I drive through regularly. I've been in the store more times than I can count. The cops arrested two men in their early 20s, one white, one Hispanic. The death of this ordinary man didnt make headlines outside of New York or Queens.
Any big city has a certain element of danger. The devil has free reign in the most "respectable" of places, so that one can no longer rely on simply keeping out of "bad" neighborhoods. Why is it school shootings usually occur in predominantly white, upper-middle class suburban or rural areas, not inner city ghetto schools?
