    • ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Residents of the city of Adak on Alaska's Aleutian Islands evacuated the town site and gathered on a nearby hill Monday after a magnitude-8.0 earthquake prompted a tsunami warning for part of the island chain.

    LONDON (Reuters) - A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck off New Zealand's Kermadec Islands on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, but there were no initial reports of any damage.

    The USGS gave the epicenter as 126 km (80 miles) southeast of Raoul Island, the largest in the island chain located about 800 km from New Zealand's North Island. The quake occurred at a depth of 30 km, revised from an initial depth of 5 km.

    • Just heard about this on the news.

    I remember the 1964 earthquake and tsunami that swept through Anchorage.
    No one was expecting it. Just came on suddenly.

    • Oh, today is our 41st wedding anniversary!!!! that is good news!  Our traditional CMRI priest gave us a anniversary blessing on Sunday!

    Congratulations to you songbird, speaking of last Sunday, we at Mount St. Michael also CMRI had the most beautiful procession of Corpus Christi rightly assigned after Thursday after Trinity Sunday as its proper day for the procession.    Our grounds were all decorated Saturday, and when the decorations were all put up around the Mount, a most beautiful rainbow appeared, the funny part was no rain anywhere.
