Title: TLM Latin mass community in NM/AZ?
Post by: Marys Anawim on September 21, 2020, 11:47:43 AM
We are making a move over to the southwest and will be attending the Sspx in silver city...anyone from around there? We lived in NM for 2 years before, but the closest TLM was in Albuquerque so we didn't make it regularly. Just wanted to know how it is out there as far as other families, high mass only on feast days? is there any socializing after? whatever else to know is helpful thank you!

San Ignacio Catholic Church, 1300 Walter NE, downtown Albuquerque, has Extraordinary Form every Sunday at Noon. Fr. Bugos is very warm and welcoming. After mass excellent food, strong coffee and many sweets in parish hall to at least 3 PM. People come from as far as Socorro.

Welcome NewMexican!

Just letting you know that the T in TLM in the suject line is for traditional, and the so-called extraordinary rite is far from traditional.

And M stands for Mass, whereas the NO presbyters, except for the very old, are almost certainly invalid … and therefore you wouldn’t be assisting at Mass.  What remains is just the L.

And the NO means Novus Ordo (new order - untraditional).

You actually have a few options in Albuquerque.

1. Queen of Peace - Fr. Gonzales (ordained by ++Lefebvre)
2. There is a small CMRI mission that gets Mass  couple times a month. There are priests from El Paso and Colorado that visit.
3. Sts. Peter and Paul - SSPX

I recommend you stay away San Ignacio. Primarily because of the positive doubt in the new rite ordination and the priests are ill trained. A while back the local ordinary kicked the TLM out of the church building and they had to use the hall.
