  • As I pray the Rosary when I'm out fishing, i notice the birds particularly.  God never ceases to amaze me at his generosity to our senses.

God bless you SimonJude, for seeing God in His Creation.

God can be known with certainty from the things that He made.’ (De Fide).

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen – His everlasting power also and divinity - being understood through the things that are made. And so they are without excuse, seeing that, although they knew God they did not glorify Him as God or give him thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds have been darkened.’--- St Paul’s Letter to the Romans.

St Thomas Aquinas explained and developed this first dogma. He advised any understanding of God should begin with the things we can realise, the things that can be perceived by the senses. These are the first things we can know, because they exist and we can see and experience them. Beginning with the Earth and mankind at the centre of the universe, this was the ultimate reason for the acceptance of God the Creator for most at that time. Who does not delight under the sun by day and the moon and stars at night; the white clouds in the blue sky, observing the beauty of the Earth’s lands and seas, the icebergs of the north, the snow-capped mountains, the lagoons, lakes and waterfalls, the forty shades of green in Ireland, the 8.7 million different living creatures on Earth, each designed to harmonise nature, the 20,000 species of birds on Earth, the 369,000 kinds of flowers, both so beautiful that they surpass beyond anything mankind could reproduce in mind or art so different are they from each other in beauty, design and colour. Then there are the foods found and grown everywhere, feeding for mankind and all creatures on Earth. The next time you enjoy the wonderful tastes of your favourite foods, think on the fact that it was God who gave them that taste. Then there are the materials provided on Earth for mankind’s needs, everything necessary for the building of homes, cities and mankind’s needs. Saint Thomas asked ‘where do all these different things get their existence and purpose from, what causes them all to be?’ Thus begins a journey from cause to cause until we reach a point where we can go back no further. It is then we find a cause that did not receive its existence from outside itself otherwise all that is would never have come into being. St Thomas asked, what kind of being this original, supreme cause must be. Surely only an omnipotent Creator as revealed to us in Scripture could have fashioned such a world, created with every creature, living or inanimate, all depending on Him for their existence? Seen accordingly, man’s spiritual intellect saw that this central place in the universe for us confirms with certainty a divine cause for such distinctiveness. Once belief in God was attained through human reasoning, then mankind would be more favourable to the revelations and prophesies the Triune God prepared and delivered for our redemption; those recorded in the Old and New Testaments. Saint Thomas’s theology, then taught the order of the world was created by God in order to accommodate mankind, especially Jesus and Mary. First created was light, then the heavens and the Earth, a heaven for His angels and the Earth with waters for growth to provide all mankind’s needs.

Thank you.  God bless you, too.

    Matthew 13:13-15
Therefore do I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.   And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive. For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

  • The weed Henbit has always been interesting to me.  look at it closely.  Even in a "weed" you can see God.  I was brought up calling it "man at the pulpit".
