I can't say I remember reading about any saint in a starvation situation, certainly not one who had prepped for such a time. Would such a saint turn everyone away for not having made their own preparations, even to the point of killing or disabling them so they don't steal his food? Wouldn't the Gospel equate that to turning away or hurting/killing Jesus (what you do to the least of brethren you do to Me)? Or does that only count for other Catholics? What if you gave all you had to feed the neighborhood for a day or week, then everyone starves? At least you'd have on your conscience having given all you had for others, thereby giving all to Jesus. So, if I prep, should I be a selfish murderer? I'd feel guilty sitting on a plentiful stash while others starve and beg, even if justly. Speaking of justice, God has given me far more than I deserve, by His infinite mercy and love. I'd at least be inclined to pray that He'd multiply my stores by a miracle so I could feed them.
It depends upon the situation. A person or group trying to steal from you would justify self defense on your part, especially if you have a family that depends upon you. If the situation is a grid down and economic collapse, We would teach others how to garden, preserve foods, forage, make ferments, tap trees for syrup, and so on. Every abled body would have to help out. We have prepped, not just by having stored foods, medicines and hygiene products but have learned to produce them ourselves on our little homestead. We keep extra breeding rabbits just in case a collapse happens, we will start breeding them all to get production going to help others around us. God will provide for sure but we have to do our part.
