We had a ton of snow earlier here in IL, but now not a bit in sight. I’d love a white Christmas! Just nothing this extreme!

Doesn't look likely for the northeast, despite what this guy says. Right now all of the forecasts for Boston, New York, and Washington, DC indicate low to mid 40s on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with a slight chance of rain. Indeed, this weekend'sforecast for the northeast says it could even get up into the 50s. Not exactly weather conducive to a massive blizzard.
But, scaremongering is always fun!

Snowmageddon. How many times, how many years over, has this term been recycled, anyway?

Oh, RC1953...
Dude.

Did it happen?
As for my place today, St Stephen's Day, we had a max of 37 degrees C and tomorrow through to New Years Day we are expecting max of 39 (102.2F). Each day within the next week will be progressively hotter. But that is not so unusual for this time of the year. It is not the end of the world.
The problem for us is the lack of rain. Farmers are needing to lop trees for the leaves to feed their cattle.

Not really, no. (https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/2018s-white-christmas-restricted-to-the-northeast-upper-midwest-and-mountainous-west/70006969) A lot of the country didn't get any snow. Later this week, though, some parts of the Upper Midwest might be getting a blizzard.
