  •  The justices blocked Gutierrez's execution about an hour before he could have been put to death. Gutierrez's attorneys had argued his religious rights are being violated because the prison system won't allow a chaplain to accompany him in the death chamber.

How do you feel about them not allowing a priest for this man about to die?

  • Wow, that is surprising even Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma City Bombing had a Priest.

Yes, but that was 19 years ago. America has changed in 19 years.
By the way, what do you mean to imply by saying even Timothy McVeigh?

  • If this just happened, I'm sure the reason they wouldn't let a priest accompany the convict is because of the Chinese virus hysteria rather than some anti-religious bias.

If the man is going to die why worry about this virus.
The real reason for this is because of their own anti religious bias.

Have you not seen any of the news at all?  They won't let priests into hospitals to give the Last Rites to dying patients either.

Depends on where you're at.  In Ohio, my brother received Last Rites a few weeks ago.  They had a policy where they would let one person in at a time and clergy/priests were among those allowed in.  Of course, the priest was forced to wear a mask, etc.

A priest came to see McVeigh. He spent in Father's face and refused him.

Seriously where did you read this???? I have been and out of the U.S. since then but I never heard this. Was this factual I heard that he has asked for a Priest? I remember the interview the Priest gave and there was no mention of this incident. If so that is sad  A excellent Book on this subject is God goes to Murders Row. True story from Kentucky

Right.  I also heard the story that McVeigh himself had asked for the priest.  My guess is that he was just a patsy and didn't actually do the bombing.

The priest told the story and was very somber about it.

Where is he today? Unless we have some kind of revelation we don't know. It doesn't look good. Which is why we should pray for the repose of his soul.

Yes, but Poche is correct here.
