It made me a little sad, though, because I hope others like Mike here realize what a blessing they have in parents who are alive.

Because after they're gone, you can't take them places anymore, and you can't enjoy being embarrassed anymore.

So go ahead, and take your parents all over the world, if you can.

Spend as much time as you can with them, even time you think you can't afford.

And when they ask you if you'd like to go with them someplace, don't say no, because you'll live to regret it.

Because once it's too late there's no chance of making up for lost time.

Between the lines of this funny story, I can see the hidden message, that Mike Rowe really does appreciate his parents.

And being a little embarrassed is a very small price to pay. I think he knows that.
