It's a good idea to carry some cash and a plan to get home, I'm currently in the process of putting together a get home bag inspired by Prepper Journal.
Best to be prepared, even if this was just incompetence in management.

Cyber is a strong possibility, given the quick recovery time. Potentially Russia or China flexing their cyber power, or some other non-state actor.
Best to just be prepared and see what happens.
