  • Pardon my interruption here, but why does anyone know anything about this fellow?  Who is he that people should know about him?

And what is "LARP"?  I tried to look it up but it seems to have something to with role-playing games which doesn't seem to make sense in context.

  • In fact, seeing as how Aurini is a relatively new convert, I would heartily recommend y'all hang out and participate in conversation.  He has an open-door policy, and he'll visit with anyone.
Why not invite him to join CathInfo? He can ask all his questions about his new found faith.

Real quick, I sorta cover what LARPing is here:  https://thehirschfiles.blogspot.com/2017/05/is-pope-francis-larping.html

LARPING is an acronym for Live Action Role Playing. LARPers are those people who dress up in homemade costumes and pretend to play Dungeons and Dragons in real life.

Anyway, who is Aurini?  I've been listening to him since at least 2015.  He talks about culture and politics.  I've always found him to be a likeable guy.  In November of 2015, I believe it was, he revealed he had become a Catholic and would help try to stand up against the evil forces overtaking the Church and the world.  That's something I can get behind, so I'd been following him as a fan ever since.

At this point, he's an online friend.  He's about 3 years into being a Catholic, now.  I'm not so sure he's had too many Catholic friends in either his personal life, or on the internet.  (I had to go through much the same thing.  I had hardly any Catholic friends after I converted--for almost ten years--until I ended up joining Fisheaters so long ago.  It took a minute to develop those associations.)

In any event, I figure his livestreams are a good venue if you wanna catch me live for a chat in his chatbox.  His livestreams are sort of hangout spaces that I usually go to.  But also, I'm wanting to draw Trad Cath attention to him---for his benefit.  He needs our support in the face of utterly hostile Protestants Catholic haters lately, so there's that.

Why not invite him to join CathInfo? He can ask all his questions about his new found faith.
I'll let him know the offer was extended.

  • I use to “watch” his Twitter because it made me laugh, and I never thought this guy was serious.....

(Off topic) LARPing is actually pretty cool. I’ve never done it seriously, but I go with family, and my husband every year to the ren faire. The costume part, and environment are the best part. But they also are pretty cool along with 18th century re-enactments. (Back on topic)

Aurini has visited this forum already, maybe not as a joined member, but as a visitor. How do I know? At the beginning of one of his YouTube livestreams, he quoted the exact verse that's on my Croix de Fer signature. Aurini isn't well-versed in the Bible, and that verse is even relatively unknown to traditional Catholics, and it's a much less probability that Aurini would know about it. After he banned me from his livestream for being critical of HayBroom the pagan witch (yet he still allowed blasphemy to occur in the chat sections), he learned of me being on CathInfo, probably from Laramie Hirsch. He checked out my posts to gauge more about me. That's when he saw my signature. He thought it was cool, masculine and had warrior spirit, and in true LARPer mode, he "prayed" it with HayBroom the pagan witch at the beginning of his livestream.

There have been several Catholics, including myself, who have told Aurini more about the Catholic Faith in his livestream chats, but he never really wanted to hear it. He's had the opportunity to learn more about the Faith on this forum, but he's balked at it. Aurini belongs to the religion of self with some "Catholic" ornaments. As I said before, he's into syncretism.

    I should have been clearer.
You, Laramie, make him, Aurini, sound like a little god king!

    Just an observation.

  • Where are the Catholics with the wonderful answers?

In Church.  Or reading Mr. Tickle to their kids.

    That is where.

We don't need to babysit 37 year old men.  If he wants a beer and a chat he can come and help me fix my floor.

A "life coach" with few friends?
He should change his name to Irony.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of ggreg and wondering why he needs mollycoddling.

Well, look, if no one is interested in getting to know this guy or chatting with me in a chatbox or anything, then fine.  I won't insist on the idea.

  • He charges $1 per minute "life-coaching" over Skype.  He should be able to coach himself up some new Trad Catholic friends.

If you set yourself up as a public figure and publish to the new media world, then be prepared to suffer the slings and arrows mockery and judgement for your ideas.  Younger people should realize that that media they publish is never going to go away.  In 20 years time there is a good chance someone will be able to read this comment.  Matthew can delete it, but it is archived somewhere on the web.

Think hard before you publish.  You WILL be judged for it.

We already know him.  At least the side of him that he chose to put out there for public consumption.

My advice for Trad newbies.  Find the men of the group, the pillars who have been there for years, and offer to help them with some hard work in their garden or fixing their van, erecting a fence.  First, you'll show you have man skills and second this is the way to gain some respect and watch them in action with their wife and children if you are from a broken home.

Then listen for the first 3-5 years.  Learn to serve mass.  Learn to sing and sing loudly at the parts of the mass where you are suppose to sing.  Good way to get noticed.

Additionally most chapels need some painting fixing and maintenance.  Give up a couple of Saturdays per year and help out.  I bet the priest does not get too many volunteers.   If you can drive then drive the priest to and from the airport.

Nobody is going to trust you automatically.  We struggle to trust each other.  But you can earn trust slowly by being reliable and consistent.

I turn up at the local novus ordo Church that ED borrows once per quarter and vacuum the cobwebs away with a 30ft vacuum extension I made from poly pipe.  Takes me an hour and keeps Fr. Handwringer the local wishy-washy modernist sweet.  That way once per month I don't have to spend 2 hours on the road and neither do the other old people who would have that Trad mass or nothing.

Don't assume you know it all because you read a couple of Michael Davis's books and the Catechism cover to cover.  Do all of the above and you won't piss people off and you might get invited to their house and introduced to their daughter.

Finally be ready to admit you don't know, if you don't know.

Hey, ***moderated***, nobody is interested in your ideas or stupid blog, nor do we want to hear the scandalous Aurini. You're trying to attract good Catholics to a heretic, enabler of blasphemy and collaborator with Godless pagans who offer nothing of spiritual value to anyone, nor is there really any practical value.
