Father Samir Daou, a Lebanese priest belonging to a missionary fraternity established in the north-central part of Lebanon in the diocese of Byblos, in mountain parishes where the majority is Muslim, met an [Avrille] convent father in front of the grotto of Lourdes in 2015. Since then he regularly sends us news describing the dramatic situation of the Christian population in the region where he is. We publish these letters to ask especially for prayers and sacrifices for our brothers in faith. You can send a message to this priest at this address: samir.daou@yahoo.com]
Dear Father, dear friend in Christ-
On the Cross, Jesus said: I am thirsty... Yes, we are thirsty and hungry. Our ordeal continues.
We are stressed, exhausted, cut off, desperate and manipulated by a conspiracy of corrupt, criminal and thieving leaders and politicians. The situation continues to deteriorate due to the collapse of the Lebanese pound, which has gone from 1500 to 100,000 L.L. for one dollar or one euro in three years.
We are living in the depths of hell inside an economic earthquake and a complete collapse of the whole system, and around us a natural earthquake and earthquakes.
Recession: 300%.
Poverty: 80%
Famine: 60%.
Emigration of Christians: 45%.
ѕυιcιdє: 22%.
Diseases: 35%.
There is a lack of everything. The situation of the schools is getting worse and worse. Hospitals, medicines, no electricity. We have no president of the Republic and no government. We live in a society of wolves, mafias and black market.
"Reaching out to the one who is in trouble; it is to show him that hope exists, during this Lent and forever."
Thank you for your support to be able to help poor families, orphans, children who sleep at night without being able to eat and all those who are in urgent need.
Thank you for your big heart, and for your dedication.
"With your sufferings, Jesus."
Holy and good Lent, and beautiful ascent to Easter.
