Two religious sisters who serve in the Diocese of San Cristóbal de las Casas were beaten as they tried to tend to persons wounded in a violent land dispute, according to Mexican media reports.

In addition, the sisters’ van was robbed.

Bishop Felipe Arizmendi Esquivel expressed his solidarity with the sisters and said that “they will always have our gratitude for their generous efforts in the integral evangelization of the community.”
