  • What a wonderful idea. God bless them all. That’s 350 priests at one mall for just two days. Could that happen in the USA? Wish it could. Even ten priests at a mall for two days!

Bogotá, Colombia, Oct 14, 2015 / 03:05 am (CNA).- In the South American nation of Colombia – where an estimated 70 percent of the population identifies as Catholic – it is not unusual to encounter Catholic priests at a cathedral, or perhaps at a religious school or hospital.

Seeing scores of priests at a shopping mall, on the other hand, is a less frequent occurrence.

But for thousands of shoppers at Gran Estación Mall in Bogota, Colombia last week, that’s exactly what happened.

Some 350 priests congregated at the mall to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation in a “Confess-a-thon” held Oct. 6-7. More on this here.

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • I think it trivializes the sacrament.  Confession is serious and not to be squeezed in between buying shoes and underwear.  I don't think the atmosphere at a mall is conducive to making a thorough examination of conscience nor of encouraging contrition.

  • Besides what good is it if it is Novus Ordo action - their "priests," etc....?

  • I agree with Marlelar. The sacrament of Penance is meant to be a private affair where the person can be prayerful and the priest able to perform his duty without distraction.
It would be different in a battlefield where there is no Church. I cannot imagine a woman who has committed abortion being able to pour out her heart in sorrow and remorse in such an environment as this one shown here:

Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

OH MY GOSH, plastic chairs out in the open ! ! !  Definitely trivializes the sacrament.

Thanks Nadir for posting the pic.
