If I purchase shoes for my boys, I buy them used. I refuse to pour more money into the trade deficit, and force more people to work as slaves.

So if you buy them used, you don't care where they were made, or are you looking for used, American-made shoes?

First I try to look for American made shoes (which is almost impossible, considering one of the last shoe factories where I used to buy shoes for my children sold out to China about 7 years ago), and if I can't find them, I have to resort to finding used shoes made by foreigners. Usually I'll buy from countries OTHER than China if I can find them (the Philippines used to be a major shoe source for the US at one time), then if I have no other choice, I buy USED Chinese shoes, so as not to create FURTHER DEMAND for them by throwing money at the CEOs to encourage them to produce NEW SHOES made by the Chinese slaves.

Does that make sense?

Parentsfortruth- inevitably most anything you purchase nowadays can find roots in Asia, Latin America, Africa, the middle east, or other 3rd world nations. If these shoes were made in china, so be it. Werther we like it or not you don't have the power to change the masonic influence on 3rd world countries and those poor people in china you posted in your other thread. What happens when all the used shoes at the thrift are Chinese-made?

I'm not sure if its nationalism or a big heart for those poor people. But, in the long run our government isn't making it easier for us to support American made, or at least valued working conditions, and I wont sacrifice my family for our wretched 'government' sorry. Plus I can't make shoes- no skill and no time for the skill.

Lastly- I'm almost certain the computer we've used to post on this very website are entirely if not almost entirely made in the same type of factories which the apple ipad was made. So where do we draw the line?

It doesn't have much to do with nationalism at all. It has to do with supporting my neighbor rather than some fat pocketed CEO that is taking advantage of slaves in China. I would rather support my local consignment store owner, than I would go into Target or Wal-Mart (God forbid I should ever have to set foot in there for ANYTHING) and support them.

As far as US shoes are concerned, personally, MY shoes are made in the US. I know of one company that sells very comfortable shoes (that can only be purchased at small retail outlets, and not huge conglomerates, and not online unless you go to Ebay and get them used) for me, and I buy them every couple of years. They're very durable shoes and they look nice. Incidentally, they're out of Texas.

I do the same thing with my computer. I haven't purchased a new computer in 10 years, and I still have my original hard drive as backup for this one I'm using (which is used.) I won't buy a new computer ever.

When you buy new, you're helping to further inflate our staggeringly high trade deficit with China. If you buy used, you're not pouring more money into the new manufacturing that's going on right now in China.

Hope that helps.

My grandmother, mother, aunt, etc all wear them (and love their purses too). I'd feel 20 years older if I wore them, so I mostly wear my (used) Skechers.
