  • Why do they keep shrinking the size of orange juice containers? I liked when it was an even half gallon, sixty-four ounces up until a few years ago. But then, I guess a few years ago all the companies changed their orange juice containers to fifty-nine ounces and they remained at the same price. They all changed at the same time so I was not able to switch brands to the one that remained at a half-gallon which I would have done even if it was more expensive. But now they have shrunk the orange juice containers again to fifty-two ounces. And all of the brands are doing it at the same time, not just one. Are all the orange juice companies colluding with each other and changing sizes at the same time? Because in the grocery stores near my house all the brands are switching sizes at the same time, within the last couple of weeks. How come milk is still one gallon and soda is still 2 liters but orange juice containers keep getting smaller? I want to buy a half a gallon of orange juice and not fifty-two ounces.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • Companies alter between two practices - 1) decrease container sizes and 2) price increases.  Both are due to the devaluation of the currency, due to increased Federal deficits and Govt spending, which causes inflation.

  • Yes, I've noticed the trend to charge the same money for less product. Of course it is never advertised as "get less for your money!"

But I'm puzzled as to why you by soda by the litre and orange juice by the fluid ounce. What a messy system is that imperial measurement! Why doesn't America go decimal?
