I think the same uneducated idiots who fell for this scam in Atlanta in 2014 (including some people here who lack judgement or education) are falling for it again.

It is not fake snow.  It is ordinary snow sublimating.

Basic high school physics or chemistry should teach you about the Triple Point of Water and capillary action.

It is really easy to verify.  Go to your freezer and scrape off some "snow".  It will do exactly the same as the snow outside.  Because they are both frozen water crystals.

The cigarette lighter is melting the snow crystals but the melted water is drawn into the snowball by capillary action, like water is drawn into a sugar cube or a sponge.

Want to check if it is fake snow?  Melt it in a glass and drink it.  It will taste exactly like rainwater, because that is what it is.

Indeed, this is just regular snow. There's no cօռspιʀαcʏ about it. Some places just literally do not experience frequent snowfall.

Yeah, I had never heard people talk about fake snow before nor have I seen that burning snow experiment.
So uneducated I was!

Refraction of sunlight.  Same as a rainbow. 

No.  Those elements don't refract light. Crystals of clear compounds like water, ice and carbon in diamond form do.  As does oil on water and water drops which give us the optical illusion of rainbows. 

The sunrise and sunset are red for a similar but slightly different reason..

The Sun's rays have to travel a shorter path through Earth's atmosphere in the day. This is why the sky looks blue during the day.

When sunlight strikes gas molecules, such as nitrogen and oxygen, light of longer wavelengths, like red, yellow, and orange, easily passes through, while light of shorter wavelengths, such as blue and violet, is absorbed and then scattered in all directions by the gas molecules.

When you look up at the sky during the day, this scattered blue and violet light reaches your eyes, however, the human eye is more receptive to blue frequencies than violet frequencies, so the sky looks blue.

This phenomenon is known as Rayleigh scattering. It is named after British physicist John William Strutt, also known as Lord Rayleigh. Besides making the sky look blue, it is also the reason why the Sun looks yellow during the day even though sunlight is white. When the Sun is high in the sky, the light has to travel a shorter distance through the atmosphere. This means most of the yellow, orange, and red light passes through while a small amount of blue and purple light is scattered and removed from the mix. The Sun, therefore, looks yellow for us here on Earth.

I am from Illinois. I live in the part of Texas that got hit.

This snow was "the real deal" in every way. I saw and experienced things I hadn't experienced since I moved here -- different kinds of snow, melt/remelt, crusty top (top melted and then refroze), slush, snow falling onto salted porches, packed driven-on snow, dirty icebergs on bottom of cars, snow falling onto previous snowfall from days earlier, YOU NAME IT.

I wasn't sleeping through this event, I was out in it, driving in it, playing in it. If it wasn't real snow, I would have found out right away.

It all brought back memories, and it all was 100% authentic snow. So enough of this fake news, clickbait, nutjob nonsense.

If there were any funny business to the Texas Arctic Blast of 2021, it would be weather modification. But the weather modification simply brings about REAL WEATHER CHANGES that wouldn't have happened on their own. The snow itself is completely real. It just shouldn't be falling this far south, at this low a temperature. The jet stream is supposed to be intact, not sagging down like.... I'm sure you all can think of a good G-rated analogy.
