Give directly to your family and neighbors who need help.

Giving to companies who turn around and give to charities isn’t true charity. They are using your money instead of their profits.

And don’t seek awards and recognition for your good works.
May God bless you and keep you

    Excellent Advice.

And...when companies tell ask you to donate to some charity through them, most of the time you really don't know anything about the charities they are collecting for.

I constantly have cashiers ask if I want to donate to "feed hungry children", "provide school supplies to needy kids", etc., etc., etc.  But, honestly, the "fine print" says that the charity is some obscure charity and who knows what they really do with the money!

  • If you’re a teacher, pay attention to the supplies and items your students bring to class.  Is there a child with obviously worn out supplies?  Make a gift of a new or very gently used item, like pencils, erasers, pencil case, book covers, etc.  If you can’t afford it or know the parents would be offended, do something like bring a healthful snack to share, or bring a large needle and dental floss to sew up those ripped seams in a child’s backpack.  Wait until the class is in P.E. or elsewhere.  Keep your mouth shut!

  • I listened to a Fr. Hewko sermon this evening on line.  He mentioned a Catholic family in Arizona who lost everything in a house fire.  He was requesting donations for them.
