Report from California

Reports like this make me feel like a battle-hardened "survivalist" -- even though that's not true at all. I guess there's always someone worse off than yourself...

I heard on the news that Chico CA (about 2 hours South of here) had
lots of power outages from the strong winds taking down trees. They
showed (on the TeeVee) people in LONG lines for gas as the two
stations that still had power, and LONG lines for food at one of the
several restaurants that were open as they had no food at home.

These are intelligent people... yet they drive with empty fuel tanks,
no stored food, not even a flashlight for power outages. If this is
the kind of chaos that happens from some wind taking down some
trees/power lines... what does that say about the level of
preparedness of our peoples? I was shocked to see that going on... I
guess I am naive, but people need to get a clue!
