Cell phone alarm likes to go off

  • I have a smart phone, maybe not too smart!  It has been with me for at least 2-3 years.  It has a very loud alarm that appears to go off when it is touching metal. That is my observation.  Today, don't laugh, my cell phone alarm went off at my Honda dealership.  It was a faint beeping and it annoyed me (not knowing where the sound was coming from).  I found a staff person and they phoned maintenance and for 10 min. looking with a 12 foot ladder., They thought maybe fire alarm may need a new battery.  They followed me when they heard the sound and the man said, "lady, it is you".  It never occurred to me at all.   I had it only happen twice before just out of the blue.  Thank God it never went off during Mass!  I told the man, even my husband tried to turn it off the last time it did this.  He said, operator error.  Well, that does not feel good hearing that.  The man said, "Tell your husband that I told you, to ditch the phone!

    Any ideas?

Oh, wow!  Never heard of this before!
My phone gets Amber Alerts though, and THAT can be really annoying in the same way...  I have never heard of a phone going off like that for 10 minutes though!  Wow...
I once turned my phone off before Mass because I mistakenly brought it into the Church, but it turned itself on to have an alarm go off! :o  Ever since then I really don't trust bringing my phone into Mass at all even if it is off. :)
Phones can be such weird things...

  • My cell phone is in a case that holds bank card and such.  Metal.  I had my cell phone in a fanny pouch.  I had a garage door opener in there with my phone and a pen with metal clasp, and set of keys and such.  I feel like you, that phone stays in the car when we go to Mass!

  • To err is human, but it takes a computer to really screw things up...

If that dang thing goes off in Church, I hope the congregation tosses it out the window...
