  • Yes, please do. Take the sede vs. non-sede debate to another thread, in the Crisis subforum.

I actually have to remind myself that RomanTheo is "on my side" as it were -- he's actually annoying ME, even though I'm recognize and resist/Resistance/non-sede.

Apparently being "on my team" is not the be-all and end-all for how I consider members of the forum...
I am not sure if I'd say he is "on your team" I wouldn't call him R&R since he defends Vatican 2. I would say he is an indulter.

If he defends Vatican II, he's certainly not on my team. I don't know him that well. For me, and most Trads, it's "Vatican II must be destroyed." Completely. Leaving absolutely nothing.

I guess insofar as he's anti-sede he's on my team in a VERY BROAD sense -- but that's it.

I'm hoping you meant non-sede rather than anti-sede (given the other comments you made in this thread).  Anti-sede would describe Sean and Meg (ie. the R&R dogmatists) although I would clearly place RomanTheo in the anti-sede category as well...because Siscoe and Salza are a couple of the most rabid anti-sedes out there.
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

Yeah that's a good distinction. I should have said "non-sede".

When I wrote the above, I considered non- and anti- to be equivalent. And in some way they are. But now that I think about it, "anti-sede" sounds more adversarial, or "on the warpath".

I guess it's a question of actual definition vs. connotation.

  • To get back to the OP,  I add my appreciation to Matthew for creating and maintaining CathInfo, while being a busy husband and father of 9 children.  I have been a longtime (on-and-off) reader.  This site is different from other Trad sites.

    Thank you, Matthew
May God bless you, your family and CI!

Thank you! I'm glad whenever I hear from individuals (online or in person) who say they get real benefit from the forum.

For those who are unaware, CathInfo is very much a "labor of love" since it sure isn't a cash cow. It barely earns enough to pay for the electricity to run the server, the domain name, and the extra server-related Internet charges. If there's anything left over, it has to go towards hardware for the server, as PC hardware doesn't last forever. Periodic upgrades, replacements, etc.

Long story short, if I didn't feel strongly about Tradition, the Church, and helping Catholics connect and stay informed during this Crisis (both in the Church and the world), then I wouldn't be bothering.

  • We should all learn to live together, because let's face it -- we're all each other has.

Social Media has excommunicated us, or they will unless we remain completely silent. And we sure have no allies in the World or the Mainstream Media. Or Academia. Or Big Business.

I don't see Social Media going back to the free (as in speech) days of the 1990s. If anything, I see the clampdown getting worse going forward. We should try our best to get along with those Catholics who share our Faith, part of the Mystical Body of Christ, despite disagreeing on 1/2 of 1% of issues, mostly those touching on the Crisis in the Church.

It would make things a lot more pleasant, and would make us all stronger.

I'm not saying that principles, theology, and truth do not matter. But some of the hotly contested issues (e.g., anything related to the Crisis) are literally un-solvable by humans. And so...
