I love this forum and probably spend way too much time here. There's a really cool forum called the 24-hour campfire. I've always thought this place is like a 24-hour trad-chapel donut room. Every trad chapel in the world has a (what I called when I was a little kid) a "donut room" because that is where people hang out and eat donuts after Mass on Sunday. The room is called different things in different places, but the concept is universal and identical: a place where trads can hang out after Mass and talk about what trads talk about. Except that unfortunately that precious time people have connecting with other trads is only possible on Sunday after Mass.
.
Enter CathInfo. With this forum, I can always feel like I am in the donut room of my chapel after Mass talking with the same sorts of people I have at my chapel, except that it goes on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! About the same sorts of things I would be talking about with my fellow in-person trads.
.
Thank you, Matthew, for this 24-hour donut room.

Yes, thank you, Matthew, from one more impoverished. We have no donuts, no donut room, no church.

I'm glad so many appreciate the forum.

I called CathInfo a Coffee-and-Donuts-Hall many years ago; that's pretty much what it is. An online version of that. You really have to have the same "expectations" that you would have with any group of human beings. Expect to find some imperfections, just for starters!

You'll find ALL types of trads -- the educated and ignorant, the young and old, the expert and beginner, the harsh and the mild. Also the weird, the gullible, the hothead, the savant, the nerd -- you name it. We've even had drunk(s) here in the past. And, of course, you find pretty much the whole spectrum of opinions on the Crisis in the Church. The one requirement: you can't condemn or anathematize others, since no one has the right to do so. Not talking about insults or criticism; that's just rhetoric and having strong beliefs. I'm talking about denying others their Catholicism just because they disagree with you on the Crisis in the Church, which, last time I checked, Jesus Christ hasn't explicitly chimed in on yet. No one has the certainty OR authority with which to bind consciences or condemn others.

Result of my deleted anti-sede thread.

Sean, I really hate to disagree with you, but your level of aversion to Sedevacantists puts you at odds with +Williamson and probably +Lefebvre as well. You seem to lack these prelates' charity, compassion, and mercy towards the lost sheep (Catholics) who are trying their best to survive in this time of unprecedented crisis and confusion (i.e., a level never before seen in the Church, from 34 AD to the present!)

Bishop Williamson:

Quote
I don't myself believe that sedevacantism is true, but I do understand those people who are sedevacantists, moderate ones, not the extreme ones, but the moderate ones I do understand.  They would lose their Catholic faith if they had to believe that Pope Francis is a Catholic pope.  They can't believe it.  They just can't believe it, and they've got no other way out of what looks like a trap than to deny that he's pope.  There are other ways out of it; again, we need not go into that now.

That is my position.

You, on the other hand, seem to get bent out of shape at their very existence. They really bother you on some deep level.
