  • If you didn't know already, all Borders locations are closing. This is no surprise to me, but it is disappointing. Locally, we have a Borders about 35 minutes from our home. We don't visit nearly as often as when we lived a mere 10 minutes away, but I've never been in that store when it wasn't crowded. I'm sure if it weren't part of a nation-wide chain, it would have had no problems staying in business. But, I guess for some reason it isn't easy to drop the stores which don't perform to save the ones that do.

Now, when we lost our LinensNThings a BedBath&Beyond quickly moved in to it's old location, so maybe all this really means is that we'll be getting a Barnes & Noble here soon.

Or, Amazon will drive them both out of business.

  • Bad economic times.

When I read your title post "Borders Closed" I thought you meant the Mexican and Canadian borders were closed off. No one coming in and no one going out.

I guess I am paranoid. I am sitting on the edge of my seat about the economics and Aug 2, 2011.

Oh well, sorry to here about a closing store.

Don't have any proof, but in my circles it is talked of Obama coming out with a fantastic economic plan, which he will announce on Aug 2, 2011.

  • All Borders will shut for good on August 5th or 6th. The big sales started today. If you want to get some good deals on books head on down to your closest Borders in the first couple days of August. The kind of books that 'we' would get...classics, reference books, picture books....will probably still be there and discounted mightily. It is the "oprah" books and Dan Brown c*!p that will fly off the shelves.
