  • High crime, multicultural mess, decaying infastructure.... yeesh!  Makes me understand why some people leave.  What do you think is the best place to live nowadays?  If you had your choice, where would you want to live 20 years from now?

  • Wherever you can buy cheap land as far away from the tentacles of godless government as possible.

It's not like you're going to find a Catholic friendly country, so the wilderness seems like the best bet.

New Zealand?  Some parts of the Midwest?

If I could, would leave NOW not in 20 yrs....some financial things that are still pending, beyond my control and with a lawyer at present.....

Looking at Costa Rica, Nicaragua, have not r/o Chile nor Belize(though too anti-gun) or Malta.....though they are goingdown fast in secularism and lacking in many basic needs of water/food self-sufficiency......

If I could find a job from my computer or had a gift/talent, would likely leave now, at least, part of yr......as it is, hoping said financial issue resolves soon, before its too late.....

  • Malta is an island that has Catholic laws and is about 100% Novus Ordo.

But no true Mass that I know of and I think you need 400k just to become a citizen.

It is getting worse all over.

We need to hid in God.  And make sure that when we die we will go to the right place.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world." Saint Thomas Aquinas the greatest Doctor of the Church

  • yes, talking to the head of Una Voce about a yr ago there, they having trouble getting a TLM regular and in a regular place.....plenty of well to do people there that have private chapels and heck, just saw one for sle not long ago for about $400,000.

That said, Malta does have good laws on property purchase, to protect natives from being out priced. Not sure about your 400k figure one way or other, but would need either real good retirement or a job/buiziness, which starting a biz a bit easier then other nations....

a lot of people fought hard against them passing divorce-under the guise teh God Democracy-and now they are tinkering trying to push bills on IVF and otehr horrors assoicaited....

the Una Voce guy was nice, but was a bit preteurbed when I asked him if any SSPX or independant chapels there....

    I like Tasmania!   :jester:

Tasmania is beautiful, with a few places to hide out if you know bushcraft and are familiar with the environment and like the cold and are happy to be unemployed and have Mass once a month provided you are in commuting distance from Sassafras?

I've lived in England (too long ago) and Italy (last year- don't live there!) and Australia. It's the best country to live in!

Oh, good info!  I hear the cost of living can be tough in Australia.  Of course, I think they were talking about Syndey.  I'd like to know what you think.

Cost of living is tough but our wages are higher than yours from what I understand. Life is more laid back.

Sydney has 1/5 the population of Australia - 4 million! Born there and got out while the going was good.

"I think they were talking about Syndey". Who's they?

Australians are fairly informal and easy-going people. I have never been to the U.S. but my impression is that life can be pretty hectic there.

Although this is a govt spiel, there’s quite a bit of truth in it. http://www.dfat.gov.au/facts/people_culture.html
Disregard the bit about unemployment because, I think, if you work one hour a week you are not regarded as unemployed.

Depends on what a body is looking for.  Joel Skousen's site has some interesting facts that might help in making a decision.  Scroll down to see his "lists".

Having spent several years living overseas (5 different countries including one year in Oz, and another year in NZ) I have decided that I am an American through and through and would not live permanently anywhere else.  I would like to live in Idaho if I had the opportunity to do so.

If you have never been to the U.S., it might be best to refrain from having an opinion -- much less giving it out.

    You realize it's about worthless.

Would you value my opinion of life in England, being as I've never been there?

    I thought not.

Not every part of America looks like downtown Los Angeles or New York City, like you see in the movies that take place in America. We have plenty of small towns and rural areas, which are absolutely wonderful to live in.

Did you know there were places in America today where people "hang out" at or visit the local post office to get the latest news? We're talking small towns of 200 people or less.

I hate to say it, but America is still the best place to live. Sure, there is the possibility that things will go south, etc. but the same could be said of every other country.

  • I have to disagree. A sick society like ours shouldn't be going around blaring about the "greatness of our values or way of life."
