Food too expensive, but I don’t see mass starvation. Energy crisis? Again, gas is too expensive, but conditions aren’t as bad as either oil embargo in the 1970’s or the gas lines after Katrina. I lived through the oil embargoes and was already driving. It was my job to get the gas for the week on Thursday mornings, wait for hours on the gas line while doing my high school and college studying. I don’t see anything like this. War? Yes, in various places, but not near me. It’s still, “wars and rumors of war,” birth pangs. Hantavirus? Are you afraid of it? Nobody I know is masking or lining up to be guinea pigs for a vaccine. Time will tell. There’s no Hantahysteria. The strain on the cruise ship is extremely rare in that is can spread person to person. It thrives in certain climates, one of which is not conditions typical of North America. The strain of Hantavirus native to the south western USA has been around for decades and killing small numbers of people in the south western US for many decades. It is spread via dedicated mouse waste and inhaled. It doesn’t spread person to person. It’s the one that killed actor Gene Hackman and his wife.
My main question is what is being covered up by choosing this news over others. I’ve been around too long for these localized crises to draw the conclusion they are the four horsemen.
