  • It's insanity out there! Americans get so excited, emotional, and crazy when anything out-of-the-ordinary is coming.

My grocery store was out of toilet paper again, just like during COVID.

We're expecting (2) days of cold temps. No winter precipitation expected -- no rain, snow, ice, or anything to keep everyone home. Just COLD WEATHER.

There was very little milk, and no eggs, TP, or broth. Even things like potatoes and celery were cleared out.

Why does a couple days of cold weather translate to needing more TP than usual? When Americans think "prepare!" they can only think "TOILET PAPER!" It's so bizarre.

Can I change my identity to ANYTHING ELSE -- like WW2 German, Communist Chinese, or something?

  • Up here in southeastern WA (Tri-Cities) it is a balmy 8 degrees now.  The farmhouse water went out last night but extra heaters in the well house got everything flowing again.  All the shops seem well stocked with groceries and dry goods.  I would guess that the hardware shops may have had a run on portable heaters.

  • Close to minus 50 by morning here. Plus we got snow earlier at land.
One of the few things I love about Alberta is the potential for such weather. Temps will moderate withhopefully a lot more snow on the way.

  • They’ve made an industry out of scaring gullible people and we all know the real reason they’re doing it. Fear and the Hegelian Dialectic are two of their favorite tools.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

  • Two grocery stores were completely out of ground beef and paper products yesterday but plenty of other items.

I was going to buy some very expensive bubble wrap for my windows but I decided cardboard boxes would work even better and we've got hundreds of them.

"Hegelian dialectic" is an apparently successful effort to place blame on the Protestant Hegel instead of placing blame where it really—and almost always!!!—belongs, on the Jєωs.

  • News Media dramatize everything for ratings.  I still remember where some of those guys caught pretending they were practically going vertical due to high windows, and you could see a guy casually walk out behind them, light a cigarette and smoke it leisurely without appearing to be even slightly bothered by the wind.  Then there was the one where Anderson Cooper was caught staging a shot.

We're hearing about "Arctic Blast" and "Polar Vortex", terms that didn't exist when I was growing up.  Yeah, dude, it's called WINTER in Northeast Ohio!  Happens every year.

Bubble wrap may still be useful for windows where the light would be welcome. Or some with bubble wrap and then cardboard over that for night?

  • It's so easy to focus on the worst-looking "fallout" from a storm, and make people imagine that it's basically like that everywhere. In my yard, after a storm, I would focus on the "low" areas where the puddles congregate. After a wind storm, focus on the largest branches that fell. Did a dead tree fall over? Focus on that. After an ice storm or frost, I'd focus on where the most impressive ice is visible and film there. During a drought, I'd find the BIGGEST cracks in the earth and film them. Again, people would assume my whole yard is a wasteland. Imagine this on a city-wide scale. That's what the media does. When they aren't lying, they're being SELECTIVE and exaggerating -- always with an overarching agenda. And their agenda is NOT God's agenda.

  • Up here in southeast WA (Tri-Cities) we've had several days of single digits / low teens Fahrenheit temperatures, with some wind chill.  It was up into the 20's today (14 degrees F right now at 9 PM Pacific) which usually means some precipitation.  Snow is expected tonight, 3 - 5 inches, and people are advised to be prepared for school closures and not to go out if they really don't need to.  Our freight typically comes over one of 3 Cascade Mountain passes or along the Columbia River Gorge, all routes easily shut down by snow during the winter.  I was at Costco this afternoon (the kind of warehouse shop people would go to if they really wanted to hoard).  LOTS and LOTS of everything available: paper towels, TP, hamburger, whole chickens, every kind of meat both fresh and frozen, milk, butter, eggs, batteries, just everything imaginable.

I feel very fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest, and evidently we don't have many hoarders here.
