  • Yeah, color me skeptical about the 12 days.  It looks like it does happen for a time, but no evidence this was for 12 days.

Agreed.  Unless they meant, "much of the time during 12 days, but stopping to eat & drink & sleep."

They did stop to eat, drink, and sleep, it wasn't continuous.
    One day at a time.

  • It happens, it is natural, but relatively rare. Caused by disease, injury, and the simple follow-the-leader instincts some creatures have. It will appear more commonly in videos with everyone carrying a camera on there phone with video sharing capabilities. Only 10-15 years ago this extreme convenience of taking videos and sharing it didn't exist. The ants were already starting to circle the phone before it rang, but the vibrate feature was on which could have been a trigger for them to walk in a certain direction based on the direction of the vibration waves.

  • Sort of off topic, but this business of going around in circles reminded me of a stunning passage I recently read from the book Eternal Hell by Fr Francois Chazal.  (https://ca-rc.com/eternal-hell )  I quote verbatim from p. 225:

What Do You Do in Hell?

One day the exorcist asked the Devil, “What do you do in hell?” and the
reply was preternatural: “In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni,” “We
go in circles by night, and we are consumed by fire.”

Only an angelic intelligence could come up immediately with this
verse, because not only the Latin versification and rhythm is perfect,
and the word “igni” is the poetic form of “igne;” but what is admirable
is that every single leer matches its symmetrical opposite. The first “I”
matches the last “I,” the second “N” matches the last “N,” and so on. We
don’t know any poetry of this kind:

    INGIRVMIMVSNOCTEETCONSVMIMVRIGNI

The text can be read in both directions, from left to right, and the
letters form concentric circles, just as the narrative describes a nightful
    going around in circles.

    .

What the devil??! This is astonishing. I did some searching on this Latin verse on the internet, and it appears to be sort of a riddle that's been kicking around for centuries, at least since the Middle Ages. When did this exorcism occur? It could also be that the devil quoted an existing quote to answer the question.

But man, that sure is wild. :laugh2:

I don't know.  Unfortunately, the book does not provide any more info than what I quoted.  In any event, without knowing more that quote sure seems like it fits the bill for hell.
