I got this recipe via e-mail -- I thought I'd pass it on, since it seems to be a good way to save money if you're into Bailey's.
Personally, I'm not into alcoholic beverages. I only drink (a small amount of) wine if I'm at a party or restaurant and it doesn't cost me anything *grin*
1 can evaporated milk
1 can condensed milk
1 cup whiskey (add additional 1/2 c. for more potency)
3 tbsp. instant coffee (it must be "instant" in order to dissolve properly)
1 tsp. Hershey's syrup
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients in large pitcher.
Shake before using; then refrigerate. Drink by itself, with ice, or in coffee.
Makes about 1 quart. If you shop around, you can make a whole gallon
of this Bailey's recipe for under $25.00. This is 1/4 the price of real
Bailey's Irish Cream. And it tastes better, too.
Notes:
Many similar recipes call for eggs instead of condensed milk. I tried this
and it often makes people sick to their stomach after a few drinks.
Also, many recipes call for more chocolate syrup and less instant coffee.
But I find that it becomes too rich if too much chocolate is added.
Besides, many people prefer a coffee flavor over a chocolate flavor.
Feel free to experiment. It's hard to mess this recipe up so long as
you remember to add the whiskey.
Serving this at a party is a great way to impress your friends. Generally,
it's too expensive to serve real Irish Bailey's to a large number of people.
But this is a great tasting, cost-effective way to do it. Bottoms up!
